It joined my old PowerPC G4 (AGP) desktop, hubby's PowerBook & the grandkid's ancient Blueberry iMac on our family network. Loaded the 10.3.9 update and could no longer print to my trusty old HP LaserJet 6MP. UNLESS the PB was running, then it saw it as a shared printer. But it wouldn't "see" it on the desktop G4. Though I spent ALL day today trying everything, I was lucky to have found you! Your Printer Setup Repair worked great. I suspected it had something to do with PPDs. I used to work in prepress and know something about them, but... I'm no software writer! I'm dropping a check in the mail to you tomorrow first thing! After writing a post on Apple's discussion boards. Again, thank you so much, Sally D

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />After 2 weeks of working with Epson and Apple via email, phone, etc., it is only after downloading this little miracle utility that finally (after 2 weeks of utter frustration, reinstalling/uninstalling/downloading driver updates, costs in replacing USB 2 cables, a USB 2 hub, you name it) -- well nothing worked UNTIL Version Tracker listed this in their newsletter. And within moments of downloading it, restarting my laptop, i was finally able to get my laptop to recognize my printer. i could print again! i'd give it 6 stars, but i think you only go up to 5. Wouldn't hesitate recommending it to anyone who is having trouble. PS Nothing was wrong with my cables or USB hubs, either. They work just fine.

If you go back and repair premissions, you will see that /private/var/spool has incorrect permissions now. Once that has been repaired, everything works as normal again. Would give it a higher recommendation if it didn't tear up exactly what it was intending to fix

So, I unstalled all that is related to it and reinstalled from scratch. I had printing problems, so I remove the printer software and the printer in Printer Setup Utility. When I tried reinstalling the printer, got error problems. It was impossible to reinstall the printer. So, I was stuck. I was able to reinstall the printer using my second account. However, it was lame to solve the problem like that. Finally, I tried Printer Setup Repair and discovered a pref for Printer Setup Repair and deleted it. before that, I was able to correct permissions specific to the printer using this product. Can I say thanks to the author!!! I will gladly send him some $$$.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />i LOVE printer setup repair. good. having said that, there are two nagging complaints i have regarding registration: (1) why does a paying customer have to wait - in my case 124 seconds - to be able to enter a purchased registration code? i know, i probably deserve it...but STILL!!! :D (2) i ALWAYS spell my name in lower case...this is the FIRST time i EVER had to enter my name using anything other than COMPLETELY lower case letters...i know, i complain about the weather too. :D:D:D don, nyc ps, really though...

Repair the printer setup & cups problems in the Mac OS Panther.

Printer Setup Repair is designed to rectify situations where the Printer Setup Utility will not open, printers cannot be added, CUPS fails to operate, and numerous other errors. Although Printer Setup Repair cannot fix every printing problem, it is capable of resolving most of the common ones. Printer Setup Repair can also be used to delete unwanted printer drivers, remove a build up of spool files, and recreate the /tmp symbolic link.Printer Setup Repair allows the user to do the following:

Backup and restore the printing system
Verify the root user
Verify and recreate the lp user
Verify and recreate the lp group
Verify and repair the Printer Setup Utility file permissions
Verify and repair the /System/Library directory permissions
Verify and repair the CUPS directories
Verify and repair the /Library directory permissions
Verify and repair the home user Library directories
Reset the Printer Setup Utility
Delete CUPS spool files
Verify and repair the /private/tmp directory
Stop, start, or restart the cupsd process
View and modify the hostconfig file
Replace the cupsd.conf file
Delete hidden temporary files
