    "Simply powerful!"

    February 29, 2012   |   By fmedinae

    Version: PowerMail 6.1

    Pros

Working at the International Desk of the largest non profitable NGO in Mexico means to me to deal with thousands of emails every year. I tried several email clients during the last years but none was strong enough to professionaly cop with my heavy work... until I found PowerMail. It's really amazing, how quickly I can find now (in seconds!) the right mail I need. I'm absolutely satisfied with it: it's got a intuitive interface, it doesn't split my several accounts, it's simply powerful and it perfectly integrates with Spamsieve and Devonthink Pro Office. The people at CTM have defined a high standard. It's not a matter of "works" but of quality and efficency. Thanks a lot!

    Cons

A receipt confirmation option would be very welcomed.

    Summary

In my many years of working with Macintosh, this is one of the applications I must appreciate. There are many email clients for every possible taste and specific necessity. In my experience with many of them, PowerMail does exactly what I want: I prefer plain text for readability and security reasons (and even elegance); to find what I want; to avoid "gremlins" from foreign languages; and other advantages. It simply works pretty well for me. I recommend it, especially for power users.

"The program will do email however there is no service"

    February 08, 2011   |   By veryimportant

    Version: PowerMail 6.0.6

    Pros

Will open emails and allow you to read them.

    Cons

Clunky interface and ZERO service. I had to reinstall my applications on my MB Pro and didnt save my license key when I purchased this program. Sent multiple emails to them requesting a copy of the key and NO reply and NO license...

    Summary

Dont expect any after sale support from these people. Go find another application as this one is not for you.

    "Service = Non-Existent"

    January 19, 2011   |   By 423cp0

    Version: PowerMail 6.0.6

    Pros

Program works well, when it works, but you are crazy to risk it.

    Cons

Incompetent & uncaring customer service. Software is full of bugs and crashes beyond repair.

    Summary

I have used this software for a few years and have always been ignored by their service dept. Initially (couple of years back) I couldn't get a valid registration# and after 8 mos of "English is our 8th language" unintelligible email responses I just bought a new license. The last straw now is that I purchased and downloaded their latest version on a new computer, and after a few days use it it simply doesn't open. Their "response", when you can get one, is useless and/or not applicable. Most of the responses don't even address the issue at hand. Uninstalling and re-installing does not work.

Worst of all, all of my archived emails are now inaccessible and I have yet to find another program that will import them now that Powermail has put its proprietary spell on them.

So, if you want to risk losing years of email archives, purchase this pathetic software. We cancelled our credit card payment, that was the only recourse we had. Should sue them for the costs we will now incur to recover what their program screwed up. DIRTBAGS!

    "Robust and dependable email Client"

    December 07, 2008   |   By Bluenut

    Version: PowerMail 6.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Long time user and a very satisfied one.
Most of all, the best search function I have seen yet
The application IS updated regularly and the feature set is not bloated by unnecessary functions.

Now I must admit that the imap support and the price are questionable

    "like refinement? elegance? stability? look..."

    Version: PowerMail 5.6.5

    Summary

    ...elsewhere.
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
PowerMail is a startlingly primitive application; i don't know why anybody would pay $50.00 for (as i once did) it now that Apple has (finally) rendered their free Mail.app stable and reliable. I'm surprised that a mail client with such an incomplete feature set and cobbled-together feel has stayed on the market as long as this one has. the PowerMail 6 public beta just came out, and it looks and, to all appearances, functions exactly like 5.x (the developers don't seem to understand the intended significance of a major-version upgrade); the 6.0 beta is even giving me the same cryptic, indecipherable errors when trying to send mail from my correctly-configured account as did 5.x. PowerMail is ugly and relies on third-party plugins to give it basic mail-client functionality. i mean, seriously: the Ford Motor Company retired the Edsel for a reason; the developers of this app should follow suit.

    "Given up on PowerMail (PM)"

    February 22, 2008   |   By Dr. T

    Version: PowerMail 5.6.2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've used PM for many, many years. It is a very good program, on average, which is why I chose it over all the others (Mail, Thunderbird, Eudora (now gone), Mailsmith, gnuMail, et al.). The problem, as has been expressed many times in this forum, is an almost total lack of support, either in the form a web page on the ctm development site or in the form of responses from the developers. For many problems, one can figure things out in forums of various types or through laborious web searches or problem solving procedures. However, sometimes this is not possible.

I have been suffering the "tiny type" and "huge type" problems with increasing frequency just lately. I've received no help from ctm and I cannot find useful information elsewhere. I now have given up!

My solution: GyazMail, which actually behaves almost identically to PM. Downloaded GM yesterday, spend a number of hours exporting UNIX mboxes from PM to GM (which worked flawlessly), and now I have a clone of my PM system, but in GM.

I have been happy (so far) with GM and happily paid the $18 to buy the program.

Email choices are idiotypic, but as a long-time experimenter in these types of programs and others, I recommend the PM to GM switch.

    "PowerMail is the best"

    December 10, 2007   |   By Bob Moody

    Version: PowerMail 5.6

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I use PowerMail for business. The attachments are easy to drag and option-drop into any folder anywhere. Just open the folder in the finder, drag it near the bottom of the screen, select all of the attachments, pull them up over the message, then hit the option key and drag them down into the folder. They are then in your attachments folder in your powermail folder in your home folder library (which is where I keep all my powermail files except the program)

Plus, it has extremely fast and flexible searching that makes it possible to find an invoice sent out or a reply to a query quickly. Plus it is text only, so you don't leave trails.

BUT.... don't use the spam feature. Use webmail and visually inspect the contents of your mailbox on the server. If the server doesn't have a spam filter, simply "select all" the messages in webmail, then unselect the ones you want to keep, then hit delete. Once you've cleaned your mailbox on the server side, download into powermail. I actually use Apple Mail as a backup... into Apple Mail first leaving messages on server, then into PowerMail deleting from server.

    "Attachments"

    November 15, 2007   |   By Blue Grouch

    Version: PowerMail 5.5.3

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I am still waiting for feedback (an experience I notice is common from other responses) so this may be wrong â?? but this program seems to handle attachments badly.

I have no option to save to anywhere but the desktop. If you choose show in finder, it shows the finder window, but you then have to fish about to find the specific attachment. If you attach a file to an e-mail it doesn't keep a copy of it â?? unlike Mail, so if you delete the file from your computer, the e-mail loses its copy of the file.

I want to be able to save attachments from e-mail to a range of folders on a series of drives. The program seems not to be able to manage this. I also use e-mail to keep a record of correspondence (where it is essential that I keep both the e-mail and the attachment). From this point of view the program is poor.

SpamSieve (which I got bundled with) it works very well â?? within a couple of days it is handling spam much better than Mail did. The find engine (powered by Foxtrot) is excellent. And the program is very fast. However, for my purposes, I am goosed if it doesn't work better with attachments.
