CNET Editors' review
PicPick describes itself as "all-in-one design tools," and indeed it is. This program makes us think of a Swiss Army Knife, or perhaps a well-stocked, well-organized desk drawer. There are all kinds of helpful tools here, and we think PicPick would be useful to Web designers, graphic designers, and even the average computer user who occasionally needs to work with graphics.
The program minimizes to the system tray, and accessing its features is as simple as clicking on its icon. A menu appears listing the program's many useful tools: an image editor, screen capture, color picker, color palette, magnifier, pixel ruler, protractor, crosshair, and whiteboard. We especially liked the image editor, which is basic as far as its features are concerned but which features a clean, intuitive design. The screen capture function was also impressive; we loved that it includes a scrolling capture option that lets users capture Web pages and other scrolling documents all in one image. A well-organized options menu lets users specify how images are saved, which hot keys to use for specific tools, whether to support dual monitors, and much more. PicPick even includes an FTP client that makes it incredibly easy to load its content directly to a Web site. We were a little disappointed that the program didn't seem to include a Help file, but most of the features should be fairly easy to figure out for anyone with basic design or image editing experience. Overall, we found PicPick to be an extremely useful set of tools, and we were impressed with both its features and its attractive design.
PicPick installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to all users.

"Great screen capture tool"
Version: PicPick 3.1.3
Pros
Easy to use. Just hit Shift/Print Screen if you have it set to turn on with Windows. You can then capture anything on the screen. You define the area you want to capture with this command. There are also a lot of other things you can call up the keys. Also, it is an easy install every time you do an update of this program.
Cons
I have never found anything that I am disappointed with having this program.
Summary
I have PicPick installed on all of my computers and put them on friends computers also since it is really valuable. Unfortunately even though it is easy to use, a lot of people are not very computer literate. The program is especially valuable if you need to capture all or any part of you computer screen. If you install it, practice with it and find out valuable it can be to you.

"Aggravating, aggressive Marketing. But works well."
Version: PicPick 3.1.3
Pros
very nice set of instantly available desktop graphics tool. a good choice of basic tools, and they work well. i use this a lot.
Cons
it seems to be a marketing tool for pushing other products onto your computer. during installation, it tries to get you to install some other software and makes it unnclear how to decline while still continuing to install PicPick. worse still, when you try to get an upgrade by way of CNET's email notices, it takes you to a page with a huge Download button that downloads some other product. so i went to the homepage to find the real download button, and got another huge button for some other program. rather than get more annoyed, i just went to downloads.com for the upgrade.
unlike other users, my antivirus program hasn't detected malware -- maybe because I have managed so far to avoid downloading the other stuff they are pushing.Summary
because of its VERY AGGRESSIVE, annoying and unethical strongarming, I'm giving it the lowest possible rating, even though it works very well at what it claims. I will report this to CNET. Maybe they can force the company back from their unethical marketing practices, to the merely annoying (like most other marketing). if so, i'll come back and give it a high rating.

"So far, so good"
Version: PicPick 3.1.2
Pros
haven't had any glitches at all. does exactly what it says it does. its not too invasive or intrusive.
Cons
it took a little getting used to. At first i was wondering what the heck was up with this new thing on my cursor - i'd forgotten it would do that.
Summary
Now that i have had this awhile i don't even notice its there - but i can guarantee i notice when it is not. I have not installed it on my laptop yet and i have missed it.

Cons

"OK for occasional users"
Version: PicPick 3.1
Pros
Nice and clean. Worked well even with pictures embedded in email.
Cons
Unable to customize the default toolbar. Had to keep opening the Menu button, which appears to not have any text labeling, to accomplish repetitive tasks such as opening a 'New' canvas and doing a 'Save As' for the work I am doing.
Summary
Would be nice to be able to add Buttons on the toolbar. Such as: 'Save As' and, especially, 'New'.

"Love this tool!"
Version: PicPick 3.0.9
Pros
Love this tool. It provides versatile capture hotkeys and inserts captured image directly into MSWord. A true productivity tool.
Cons
Would be nice if there was a way to specify a MSWord template for pasting the captured image into. Defaults to Portrait and I often need to paste Landscape oriented images.
