I am still waiting for Hebbard to respond to me about speed. Fonts look like the days I was using system 6. even vector drawing is choppy.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com. I'm using this as a replacement for Photshop Elements since the INTEL switch and actually I'm quite pleased by the application. As Photoshop is just out of range for my needs I looked for alternatives and came along Photoline. The only issues are that the interface is not up to the current Mac interface, it's more a mix of OS9 and Windows. This might not be a surprise as the application exists on both Windows and Mac OS X. Some of the Dialogs are somewhat confusing though. It has a lot of power and functionality and a low price tag in relation. There's a 30 day trial period, so you can test it pior investing the money.

BTW: There are also users in germany, not only the developer and Apple didn't want any fee for upgradig from 10.4.10 to 10.5.0?

Working with PDF's is still slow, but at least you can tear them apart to your hearts content, and I'm sure Mr. Huber will get it working even better in future releases. There's very little you can't do with PhotoLine 32. Try it out.

As long as Adobe does not have a unibin, this one here is the soft to use. If you know Photoshop, you can handle this, too. It has everything you need. I think it cannot fully replace PS yet, but I think if they continue doing such an outstanding job, then it could get very big in the upcoming years... I don't get it, 59 Euro lol.

Many new web features. This has a lot of functionality for a very reasonable price. Can now support RAW imports in the browser. With the image browser fix its a high octane replacement for graphic converter and some pretty good competition for photoshop. Note. Get the manual off their web site. Some of the dialog box interfaces are different and I keep discovering new things. Once you see how they work you kind of 'thump the head' as it seems pretty obvious afterward.

I've been 'dueling' with a photoshop user at work and there has been only a very very few cases where there is any appreicable difference. This latest version has a few GUI nicities like when you use the cloning brush, the brush shape shows a grayscale representation of the cloned area before you apply it. A really neat effect.

Lots of good additions in this release - 16 bit channels, work layers (layers that only apply effectgs), some new vector capabilities and wrapping options. If it keeps up it could be a contender with photoshop and with Adobe going all 'wierd' on their latest release, it is looking better and better. Just needs an interface cleanup.

The GUI could be better (for me it looks like a WIN app - Paintshop or something like that). But all in all it is a very good start to be a future alternative to Photoshop. Go on!

The imaging functions fully supports Lab, CMYK, 16 bit per channel, ICC profiles and raw data of digital cameras. It offers all tools you need: Painting, cloning, filtering, blending and flood fill, special effects like squirl, shadow, glowing, distorb, morphing, 3d projection.
