This simple application adds basic information to photos. Double-clicking the downloaded file launches the Photo Dater application itself, not an installer. You can annotate one file, entire folders, or selected multiple files, adding the file's date or your own customizable one. The option to specify your own date lets you stamp multiple files with any short text; the program doesn't enforce a date style. You can pick the color, font, and size of the stamp text. The program offers the choice of putting the stamp in the top left, top right, bottom left, or bottom right, or at the XY coordinates you choose. Though you don't get a preview of the stamped file, the program saves the stamped file as filename-dated without changing the original. A. Why can't I just download a simple file and install it myself. I'm not an idiot. Why is there all this useless "downloader" added stuff that is completely uneeded and I consider malicious because it tries to change my browser settings, and hosed and crashed chrome with several tabs open.
B. Tried to change many settings in my browser.
C. Software converted a 768Kb file to a 159Kb file with a date stamp and degraded the quality of the picture.
D. Software doesn't display the file I picked, the field was just black.Summary
Make sure you have a backup of the picture files you want to date stamp, and be ready for the stamped files to be of significantly lower quality than the originals. Read the installation dialog closely, or your default search engine, your home page, and other browser settings will be changed. Cnet thinks you are an idiot and unable to manage and install a download on your own. Or better yet, fond something else to do this-and don't waste your time with this package.

The objective of using date stamp is to have the date picture is taken. However this software puts the date of the file but not the picture is taken. Should allow the user to pick datetime or Date only and preview option before rastering on the image.
Summary
The software is considered as a entry level CS(computer Science) semester project. I am sure author can implement these features easily which makes the software more sense. The effort the author put on is appreciated.

Love the program, super simple to use. Just wish it would really do a date/time stamp like I thought it was supposed to do. if you only want a date stamp program, this program is what you need. I ran it on a Windows 7 64 bit version just fine. No installation needed, it's a stand alone program.

Cons
when I used lower right is seemed to be off image, but when I used top left it was right on. At first font was to small to read and had to increase quite a bit to get a decent size

Small and easy to use. It does put the time stamp in any position, any colour and font of your choice.

It put the date of file is created and not the picture was taken date.

Cons
It uses the Creation Date of the file instead of the Date Taken of the picture. If you run this program on the original jpegs directly from the camera, those two dates are the same, but if you run this program on the jpegs after editing, the date changes to the date you saved the edited image.

This software does what it says almost too easily! I have been looking for weeks to find a program that will add dates to an entire folder. I have downloaded and tried many different programs, but none work as well and as simply as this one.
