    Version: Phantasmagoria 1

    "Very nice!"

by lordmachiavelli on May 14, 2008

Pros: Drag & drop photo to begin working. Offers a wide selection of filters and effects, some of them truly unique. Has a "create restore point" button.

Cons: Navigating could be smoother. For example, to do a standard median blur, you have to click on Effects, then Effects chooser. This brings up a box with a sample picture in it, and various tabs across the top. Click on the blurring and sharpening tab, then mouse down under the sample picture and click and scroll to choose Blurring (median). It's not a hard process to understand, but it makes exploring all the wonderful effects more tedious than necessary.

Some effects need more options. "Sparkle" plops a sparkle in the middle of the picture - no options. A preview would be really nice, especially working with those functions that have 4 or 5 sliders to tweak, and you can't see how your image is affected until it's processed. If you need to adjust the effect, start over.

One caution: if you create a second restore point, you will overwrite the first!

Overall, still a solid product that will make a permanent addition to my collection of image editors.

"A bit complicated for such a simple program."

by OldeFart on November 9, 2009

Pros: Once you get what (picture) you want it can be fun experimenting.

Cons: It's (primarily) a screen shot, right? Then why make it so complicated.

Summary: A lot more screen shot programs are easier to use but this one has it's perks. I've got several and they can be retouched with other programs. This one however has it's own touch up program and some are really unique. My problem revolves around the ... read more >>

    Version: Phantasmagoria 1

"Amaze Yourself Once You Get The Hang Of It!"

by selftaught on June 3, 2009

Pros: Pull down menu simplified with visuals; restoration point for your capture, crop feature.

Cons: If you do not opt-out of Twitter function it annoyingly pops-up every 30 seconds or so and you must exit it. There isn't a save feature for each step so if you don't like a process you just clicked on you must undo the entire picture and start again.

Summary: It takes awhile to tweak the product to figure what you wish to use it primarily for your liking. It can make some fabulous imaging. Just make sure you write your beginner shots down step-by-step (unless you have a photographic memory). This way you... read more >>
