Publisher's Description
From Panda Security:
Panda USB Vaccine is a free utility from Panda Research which helps prevent malware infections due to the autorun feature of Windows Operating Systems. Once executed the user can choose two types of vaccinations: Computer Vaccination or USB Drive Vaccination. USB Vaccine allows users to vaccinate their PCs in order to disable autorun completely so that no program from any USB/CD/DVD drive (regardless of whether they have been previously vaccinated or not) can auto-execute. This is a really helpful feature as there is no user friendly and easy way of completely disabling autorun on a Windows PC. Panda USB Vaccine can be used on individual USB drives to disable its autorun.inf file in order to prevent malware infections from spreading automatically.
What's new in this version: Version 1.0.1.4 features: support of NTFS USB drives; installer; auto-vaccination (resident driver), multi-language and various fixes.

"THERE IS SOME RISK"
Version: Panda USB Vaccine 1.0.1.4
Pros
It was free. Stops autorun on your computer, and USB flash drives MOST OF THE TIME.
Cons
Panda usb vaccine disabled the autorun feature, but malware got onto another computer before Panda worked. Ultimately, a message popped up from Panda usb vaccine saying that some file couldn't be loaded. For two days I had to launch all applications from task manager. Finally I got more time and just started shutting everything down accept for "critical system processes." As soon as I shut down panda usb vaccine, all of my desktop icons reappeared (I had tried shutting down and restarting explorer, it didn't work). Also, I had one flash drive that Panda couldn't immunize.
Summary
The program has the benefit of disabling autorun on your computer and your flash drives. However, reading all of the reviews, plus with my own experience, I would say that there is a glitch in the software.

"Not Much Good After-The-Fact"
Version: Panda USB Vaccine 1.0.1.4
Pros
Free. It did disable autorun on my flash drives and my computer.
Cons
I immunized my computer, then plugged in a flash drive I thought might be corrupt. Panda popped up to ask me if I wanted to immunize the drive, I clicked on immunize and Panda USB Vaccine did its thing. However, before it disabled autorun the virus slipped right past Panda and Avast and installed itself. I've tried eveything from Norton to F-secure to remove it, nothing works.
Summary
It isn't much good if it disables autorun after the virus has already installed itself.

"PANDA USB VACCINE 1.0.1.4"
Version: Panda USB Vaccine 1.0.1.4
Pros
This Panda USB Vacinne disables autorun completely so that no program from any USB/CD/DVD drive (regardless of whether they have been previously vaccinated or not) can auto-execute.
Good for USB drives related malware, spyware & viruses, so far.Cons
Disabling Autorun feature on computer & USB drives made me realize at a later stage that this application isn't useful at all. What if I want to run an iPad, iPod or iTunes file? Will it hang it up? AM concerned. If so, can always uninstall.
Summary
My system is a 2002 Pentium MS Windows XP-PROFESSIONAL SP3. SO far, I've had no problems with PANDA USB VACCINE program, and LIKE the fact that EVERYTHING plugged into ANY USB port on my computer, is automatically detected and vaccinated.
