CNET Editors' review
This application conveniently provides you with a neat and tidy system tray, though some of its features are faulty. PS Tray Factory helps to alleviate all of those icons and opened application tabs in your system tray by letting you assign hot keys or mouse-click actions to restore them.
The program's busy interface lets you assign so many hot keys that it can become a bit confusing. You can access the application with a hot key, minimize and restore applications with another, and sort icons just to name a few. While PS Tray Factory initially does hide every icon and open application, when we attempt to minimize the application, it returns to the system tray. Another complaint we have is the application minimizer surprisingly hid the whole system tray.
Fortunately, you can restore it using yet another hot-key combo. Although it takes some getting used to, this 20-day trial utility offers sufficient aid for those plagued by a crowded system tray.
Publisher's Description
From PS Soft Lab:
PS Tray Factory is a powerful and handy tool meant to flexibly control all the other icons in the system tray of the taskbar. PS Tray Factory will help you to manage all the applications that place their icons in the taskbar tray. When you have installed PS Tray Factory, you will forget about the problem of lack of space in the system tray, and will also get an easy, fast and handy tool to handle those applications. PS Tray Factory allows you to: hide low-activity icons from a system tray into menu, get fast access to hidden icons, change the order of icons in the menu and in the system tray (sort tray), minimize any application to the system tray, change original tray icons with your own icons, protect the tray menu with password. Version 3.0 implemented support of ALL Windows versions 32-bit and 64-bit; allowed users to customize the tray icon tips.
What's new in this version: Version 3.2 has new look for classic system tray menu (notification area popup window like in Windows 7) and includes several improvements for better compatibility with Windows 7.

"Poor support! Faulty software! Not impressed!"
Version: PS Tray Factory 2.5
Pros
Nice clean layout showing all the icons in the notification area.
Can shift all the icon positions within PS Tray Factory easily but .....
Cons
Too many features when it does not do well the basic function of re-arranging the notification area icons.
Confusing method of moving icons does not work properly on my XP Home. Positions not retained on re-boot.
Support is non existent, 2 emails sent prior to registration. No replies.
I think giving priority to registered users by not replying at all to un-registered users is just unforgivable.
Right clicking the Tray Factory icon to shut it down not only shuts down PS Tray Factory but shuts down the whole Windows Task Bar. Had to log off with Windows Task Manager.
Also closing PS Tray Factory from within the manager screen also created a Windows Reporting Error.
Have tried Freeware TaskBar Shuffle 2.5 and this works without a hitch. Only problem is that this program will not retain the order of icons on re-boot but at least it works properly and the writer has it as priority to include this feature when time permits. At least the icons can be moved easily with drag and drop, not like PS Tray Factory which requires you to open a separate window and move icons around.
My biggest gripe however about PS Tray Factory is the lack of / non existent support prior to registration.
Sorry. Could have rated it higher if I could have communicated my problems for support.

"Very good program"
Version: PS Tray Factory 2.1
Pros
It works fine and very useful especially if you are still using Windows 98/ME/2000 (I am still using Windows 2000 on one of my PC).
Cons
Too expensive.

"Good program to hide your tray icons"
Version: PS Tray Factory 2.1
Pros
PS Tray factory is the program for me. It can hide any icon in a tray by a checkmark. It is also able to make your minimized windows go to you tray which is quite handy. Everything is managed in a neat control window. It take the least of your system memory and I am recommeding it.
Cons
The fact that it costs you 25$ to have the full version is a bother. It may be the software in which you want to put your money.

Cons

"Stay away"
Version: PS Tray Factory 1.94
Summary
You can hide icons in your system tray but if you want to hide that icon it's gone forever. Well all of them were gone forever except for one...I was always able to hide/show/access the volume control.

"Use at your own risk"
Version: PS Tray Factory 1.94
Summary
First, it never saved its settings between reboots. Then it began grabbing my CPU and locking up my system. I de-installed it after one day.
