PK Volume comes with a variety of skins to match it to the rest of your desktop. It can control WINAMP also, starting and stopping the playing of songs.
Though the author claims that it only works on Windows XP, I was able to get it to work on Windows 7 x64 by taking the following steps:
1. Download the library MSVBVM50.DLL and place it in the PK Volume folder.
2. Right-click on PKVOLUME.EXE and choose the compatibility mode "Windows XP XP3"
3. If you want PK Volume to start up at login, you have to turn OFF the Option in PK Volume to start it at login (because User Account Control will intercept that). Instead, use Task Scheduler to create a task to launch PK Volume at login or whenever else you wish.
I tried to email the author of the program with some comments, but evidently the email address given in the program no longer works.
I've used pk for several yrs and after a reformat couldn't remember the name. I looked for a replacement and download 7 or 8 and disliked them all. By chance I ran across pk and was thrilled !! I'll never forget again. =)
Hides behind the task bar sometimes...so if you lose it, look there.
I've used pk for several yrs and really like it. I lost it once because of a reformat and forgot the name and where I got it and tried many others without satisfaction. I can't remember how I ran across pk again, but sure glad I did.

Imaginative - but It did not add to my knowledge.
The slider did not stay put. Volume can more easily be adjusted in the relevant application.
Small size, volume on/off switch and it's free!
PK Volume only comes with one set of clothes, 1970s fake wood paneling. It would be novel if I could change the interface to blue sky with clouds or smiling children, though not a big deal.
PK Volume works * much * better than the volume icon. On a public computer, when the volume is too loud, I download PK Volume and I can move the slider to the left and enjoy a pleasant, not too loud volume!
I'm using a library computer. The volume was not working! I downloaded PK Volume. Moving the slider had no effect. Then I noticed - VOL OFF - just below the slider. It had always read - VOL ON - before. So I clicked VOL OFF, it switched to VOL ON and ahhh, sound! I played this sweet, happy song called - I Gotta Love You Rosh Hashanan.
The product is very good and convenient
But it comes with installed, unchangeable music
Altough the software may be useful for a lot of people... It's stylish and it's not real bad.
It could have more options, such as mic. volume, etc. It's a limtied software.
It's cool. It is a lot easier than the windows version, which is just depressing.
The application is good & working fine. It can control the volume of your system & Skip/back the current playing Tracks in your WinAmp Player.
You can use your player instead, why to Install this program.
I listen to music all the time while surfing the web and I find that it was always a hassle to click on that little speaker icon in the system tray and adjust or mute the volume. Not anymore. This neat FREE little tool puts a volume slider right on your desktop. No need for that ugly speaker icon. This is fully customizeable with different skins and can have various transparancies using alpha blending. When you need to adjust the volume just move your cursor to the PK Volume slider and set your desired sound....super easy and it looks cool too with several looks that you can use.A must have for the music listeners out there!!!
Only works with Windows XP!!!!
Free usefull application. Thanks!
could be perfect with multiple sound devices suport at the same time. Audio Sliders is to slow and is not free
