A handy tool when dealing with documents that have been distributed online, this application converts PDF files into Word and PowerPoint formats. Users can choose to retain the original formatting, with text boxes and images. We found the conversion to be accurate as long as the original document was fairly simple, even if it contained both text and graphics. However, more complicated documents, such as those containing tables or text boxes, often came out distorted. Image resolution was often reduced to the point that some text was unreadable. In these cases, we found that extracting only text helped somewhat. The program is designed for batch processing, but lacks a feature to convert files automatically as they appear in a source folder. We have seen better conversion quality from some of this program's rivals, but PDF2Office could nevertheless be useful to people who need to convert relatively simple PDFs.
