"UTTER GARBAGE - Buyer Beware"

July 26, 2015  |  By Savage812

 |  Version: PDF Architect 3.0

Pros

Cant think of any, I'm just too frustrated and disappointed to come up with anything positive right now.

Cons

After bilking me for my money to upgrade to "PRO"+OCR, I am completely dissatisfied with this product. Error codes galore, slow as molasses, so difficult to create PDF forms, etc that I have all but given up on using the product despite feeling like I have to at least TRY and get my moneys worth out of it.

Summary

I would highly recommend you look elsewhere for you PDF creation and conversion needs. And the business model sucks... as you will realize soon enough, when all the people you've bilked out of their hard earned dollars realize your model dupes them in to paying to TRY get some real useability out of the program, all for not.... and spread the word. I think my 4 year old could write a better program. Enjoy my money, as you won't see another dollar out of me.

"Doesn't touch Acrobat Pro"

July 04, 2015

 |  Version: PDF Architect 2.0.17

Pros

None. It's a waste of money.

Cons

Basically a cheap imitation of Acrobat Pro and you can forget the all important clear scanning.

"waste of time"

May 19, 2015  |  By alexbarmo

 |  Version: PDF Architect 2.0.17

Pros

Can't think of any

Cons

Only pdf creation module is free; you have to pay for any other functionality. In many aspects behaves like an adware.

Summary

The only thing you can do with this POS is to convert files in a limited number of formats to pdf. The resulting pdf files are huge and if you want to have some control over the size of the resulting files you have to pay for a separate module. One star is way too many for this crap.

"Excellent Application"

May 15, 2015  |  By ibezdechi

 |  Version: PDF Architect 2.0.17

Pros

Very clear and intuitive interface. I was creating PDF files from all kinds of files including from a scanner with incredible ease. The program runs very fast even on a memory-challenged legacy laptop computer.

Cons

Unfortunately the program took a very long time to install itself.

Summary

PDF Architect Pro is an excellent application which is very intuitive. The program runs very fast even on a memory-challenged legacy laptop computer. The interface takes a little getting used to as it is structured very close to the current version of Microsoft Office 365. I plan on upgrading to the full and complete version very soon.

"Worst product since the pinto"

January 28, 2015  |  By Sherman1444

 |  Version: PDF Architect 2.0.17

Pros

It makes PDFs

Cons

It slows down office, doesn't uninstall properly, takes over IE, leaves traces behind. It is like a virus with some limited purpose.

Summary

In summary, to uninstall, remove hard drive, smash with hammer.

"Still under development"

October 16, 2014  |  By John vb

 |  Version: PDF Architect 2.0.3

Pros

Ability to add only the functions you need or buy the pro version at a discounted price.
Version 2 is faster than the previous versions.
The free version allows you to do some interesting things easily, such as combining pdf files and deleting pages from a pdf.
User friendly interface. Organizes the files that you open in tabs.

Cons

The product with the full capabilities (pro) is not available as a trial (however, one can request a refund within 30 days after the purchase).
Pro version: It has many functions like other software such as Adobe but still needs improvement. Sometimes it takes to try two times to achieve a task.
I have not tried the OCR module (additional $ 24 if you have the Pro) but tried the conversion from HTML (web page) to pdf and pdf to Word. The accuracy is ok but still the formatting of the resulting document is not as good as it could be (Adobe XI is much better in keeping the format of the original document)
The free version pops up a dialog box asking to "activate" a module every single time you just click by mistake a function that you don't have.

Summary

This piece of software is worth to have, at least the free version. If you do not have access to a pdf editing program you may consider purchasing PDF Architect but be aware that it is not close to Adobe Pro XI (but much cheaper though). In my case I qualify for an academic license of Adobe (costs $ 120 instead of the $ 400 + for the commercial license). The cheapest I can get the PDF Architect 2 is $ 83 with the discounts (Pro + OCR). Because the difference is not so huge for me, I will go for Adobe.

"Horrible business model"

October 15, 2014  |  By a1a4me

 |  Version: PDF Architect 2.0.3

Pros

Viewer is free

Cons

You can't click on any of the "advanced" features without being prompted to buy the feature. If you bought them all, this "free" program would be over $100. You can't hide the features you don't have so you can't help but click on things you can't use. Even Adobe Reader lets you copy text from a PDF. With this, it will cost you $29.99.

Summary

Waste of time.

"This company wants to rip you off!"

July 09, 2014  |  By nneumann

 |  Version: PDF Architect 2.0.3

Pros

Has some useful functions, when you pay a lot of money for all keys

Cons

They say pay only what you need but when you start you realize you need to buy all options to really use the tool.

After I bought all keys (I think I payed almost 90$ in the end) I could not believe that two weeks later they wrote me an email saying that they launched a new version now (PDF Architect 2) and I need to upgrade for 60$!! They say normally it would cost 100? but when you look on the web site you see it only costs 79$. What a rip off after I already payed so much money. When you refuse the system asks you again and again, every single time you open the tool.

System is super slow and slows everything down.

When you want to create a PDF from a doc (which is the most simple part) it only works every second time, sometimes you have to try three or four times.

When you edit the text it always switches to a text font the doc cannot read and you have to choose the correct font almost after every single word, it takes ages!

Summary

I think this is not a serious company

"useless and unhelpful"

May 01, 2014  |  By a_newsam

 |  Version: PDF Architect 1.0.52

Pros

good layout of menus and functions

Cons

1. not intuitive to use
2. Type Text function is rubbish, so difficult to add and delete text
3. no user manual or help file with software nor either is available online
4. no live technical support; have to raise ticket and communicate by emails; the support guy sends copy-paste responses
5. no function to convert scanned text to "real" text

Summary

do not buy because you will be disappointed with the functions that don't work as expected, and you will waste time trying to figure out how to use the software
when I bought the software online for immediate install, an automatic email arrived with download link but NO activation key!
I had to email support team for activation key
this software is not worth the GBP 65 (pounds sterling) price tag
