This elaborate application determines your PC performance through a battery of benchmark tests, but numerous functionality issues mar its overall performance. The sleek, trouble-free interface promptly displays basic system information, including your CPU and memory specifications. The System Information entails benchmark testing and generates a comprehensive listing of hardware information. PCMark04 differs from similar programs by utilizing third-party applications to aid testing. It is preloaded with a couple of assessments sets to determine hardware efficiency. Unfortunately, users can't select particular tests to perform. For that reason, PCMark04 took quite a while to complete the full battery of tests. During our tests the program repeatedly failed to complete the series of assessments. It instantly aborts whenever it reaches test eight of 10. Despite its freeware status, some features such as CPU, HDD diagnostic, and submission of results for comparison, aren't enabled during trial. Additionally, its 35MB download size will annoy many potential users. All things considered, PCMark04 still makes a decent choice for anyone concerned with monitoring their system's performance. It just won't reach its goal of being the complete diagnostic tool.Publisher's description
From Futuremark :PCMark04 is the latest version of the popular PCMark series. This application-based benchmark is a premium tool for measuring overall PC performance. It uses portions of real applications instead of including large applications or using specifically created code. This allows PCMark04 to be a smaller installation as well as to report very accurate results. As far as possible, PCMark04 uses public-domain applications whose source code can freely be examined by any user. The build 120 includes fix for the Grammar Check test on AMD Athlon64 FX-53 processors, updated SystemInfo, and DivX Encoding test modified to prevent a possible cheat.

Version: PCMark04 1.2
"Its not terrible, but who uses it?"
Pros: Its free...or so it says. I think its trial though, but the trial version gives you a good enough number of benchmarks to compare your machine to anyone else who uses this benchmark test.
The download isn't as big as the other product these guys make, 3dMark.
Cons: I dont think its free even though it says it here on the site.
The trial removes some of the benchmarks from the full paid version.
Benchmarks take some time to complete.
Who actually uses this to benchmark their system for comparison?

Version: PCMark04 1.2
Summary: I dont want to see lots of registery, license, editions etc. for a product tagged "free".
And one does hardly expect a product that is crashing too often itself to test, checkup, benchmark your system.
This is not an easy way to diagnose a... read more >> -

"NO SUPPORT - DON'T BOTHER WITH THESE PEOPLE OR THIER PRODUCT(S)"
Pros: NOTHING - You downlaod, install, run, wait for the results, only to be sent to their website where you are told that the product is no longer suppoerted!
Cons: You downlaod, install, run, wait for the results, only to be sent to their website where you are told that the product is no longer suppoerted!
I HATE companies who refuse to support their own product either to force you to buy another new version, or because they won't continue a simple website because they are just plain CHEAP and don't really care about past customers.
DON'T SUPPORT THIS KIND OF NONSENSE!!!
