• Over-all a step backwards from version 2.

  Pros

  Great interface (as with Dex 2). Use with a good controller with built in soundcard & it's pretty lagless. Slightly improved beat syncing over Dex 2.

  Cons

  Syncing might be improved but at what cost? Don't get me wrong - any basic beat matching (or drifting) correction certainly makes life easier, but any performing DJ that can't beat match should pack up & go home. As a result Dex 3 has lost a lot of record case functionality. For example, you can no longer "amortize" sub-folders. It supposedly does this by creating a playlist but when I tried creating playlists that included sub-folders they came up empty. After managing files/folders with other software then trying to delete defunct playlists from Dex 3 IT CRASHED. Bottom of the screen is now split in to two - record case on one half, wait list on the other with no option of removing either. This makes the columns too narrow to display all the info unless you have a HUGE monitor.

  Summary

  Nice software but the developers have concentrated on making it too easy for people that aren't DJs that have no skills. Please concentrate on making a MUCH better record case. Some of us that have been around for years & years have tens of thousands of files, organised in folders & sub-folders (and sub-sub-folders) by genre, sub-genre & year of release. Until the record case improves I'll be sticking with Dex 2.

• Great upgrade from DEX 2

  Pros

  Free upgrade from DEX 2 was a surprise. love the new browser and album art, as well as much faster search and new waitlist. The video mixing is tighter too, and graphically it's way better than DEX 2. The fact this can do video mixing and karaoke. in addition to DJ, makes this a killer app for me. good price for everything it does.

  Cons

  needs visualizations and I'd like to see live camera feed support too.

  Great upgrade, great price for a full-feature DJ mixing software application. Good job PCDJ!

  Pros

  Now you can mix audio and video files, and play karaoke (if you're into that kind of thing, no thanks!). 4 players on screen, very good key lock. Better auto-gain, sound quality is crisper, and really easy midi mapping for controllers

  Cons

  Had a few version of the same default skin, I want different skins to pick from. I think the database import can be faster too

  Summary

  I like this better then any other PCDJ DJ software they've had, and better than my Traktor software. Its easier to use and seems very stable, just want a few more skins to choose from.

  Supports many controllers, timecode, 4 players, beat grid waveforms, customizable skins, supports all audio formats, precise looping/sampling, auto beat matching

  Doesn't do video!

  Summary

  Not sure why this product doesn't gear more attention. It's got all the bells and whistles of traktor and SL, but with more flexibility. You can use almost all the popular DJ controllers and timecode system with it, and it's rock solid. Love it
