This free application effectively stands guard over your PC, although it isn't a total monitoring package.

PC Sitter Lite has a trim, manageable interface to quickly open its administrative options and schedulers. Simply enter the user accounts that you'd like to monitor by clicking the administrative button, then designate their log-on hours and set the PC shutdown time with the log-on and shutdown wizard buttons.

The program can generate reports of each user's settings and activities. PC Sitter Lite doesn't perform any other monitoring functions like keylogging, screen captures, or site blocks.

Though there are more robust monitoring tools available, this application does its job and would work best for those who want to control usage without the snooping.

I approve of the idea that you may set time limits and auto shutdown.
Cons
I do not like the fact that you must download the file, then when installing the software, you must be connected to the internet to receive the full installation, Maybe very frustrating for Dial-up users. Options are limited.

It works as it says it will and shuts down the computer when you specify, but it is easily circumvented.
Cons
Net Nanny is the whole package and without the password you can't get in unlike this program where it only takes a little monkeying around with to beat.
