Orbot: Tor on Android protects your IP address and identity, but it only works with certain apps. Most of its marquee features require root access, which some people won't be willing to give. If you already have a rooted phone or don't mind using a few new apps for your security, this one really does work.
This app is a mobile version of the popular Tor network, which hides your IP address and other revealing information through a series of volunteer servers. Because of how Android uses your location information, you won't be able to get this sort of security with every app you use unless your phone is rooted. If your phone is rooted, you can route all of your app traffic through Tor, including browsing and gaming. Orbot recommends and lets you download several browsing apps that work with the app's proxy services for more security; but some of these apps (like DuckDuckGo) are available without the extra download. The app, itself, has a very cool layout with a one-touch activation mode that tells you exactly the amount of data you've sent and received while using it. There are a bevy of advanced settings like the ability to start the app every time you boot your phone, node selection, and bridges. The app offers even more goodies if you're rooted.
While Orbot gives you loads of features if you don't use a stock version of Android, it's severely limited if you do. Privacy advocates will love how much this app can hide, but it's best used by people who know what they're doing when it comes to technology.
