Downloading videos, Flash games, and large batches of files is greatly simplified with this freeware download manager, but Firefox users may have difficulty with integration.

Orbit's primary interface is bland, but the basic toolbar and info boxes guarantee everything is easy to find. Orbit shines with Internet Explorer integration. To get a media file, simply right-click a video or photo and choose Download from your context menu. Grabbing a Flash game is even easier. Hover over a Flash file, and Orbit displays a button for a fast download.

Fast and small are key traits of this application. It uses a bare minimum of memory, and downloads are much faster than with a browser alone. Where Orbit shines is its one-button simplicity for downloading multiple files on a site. From there, you can easily filter for file type. Orbit's numerous configuration options make it one of the more flexible download managers available.

Although designed to integrate with the IE, Firefox, Opera and Maxthon, we had great difficulty getting Orbit to work seamlessly with Firefox. We finally gave up trying to get the Flash download feature to work. Nevertheless, anyone downloading large numbers of files will find this freeware indispensable.

    Version: Orbit Downloader 4.0.0.3

"Beware: Great downlaoder, but hides something."

by dvstec on September 8, 2010

Pros: Ive always loved Orbit, quick and easy capture of FLV from Youtube the the download manager is great as a core download manager it is probably the best although...

Cons: Here it is: Since they have forced the inclusion of a buggy (what seems to be a false front) software updater reporting such things as...

Summary: ... updates to Kaspersky that even Kaspersky dont report, my fire wall detects attempted connections every 10mins to black listed IPs, the same two in China. While the software is open. I close it nothing. I uninstall it, Nothing. I re-install and BAM attempted connections

Ive been using orbit for several years, but now with this "software updater" component adding these dodgy interactions I wont be using and will be fighting to get the msg out.

    "If i download a 100MB file, it uses 300MB."

    by ro82ckpa on September 5, 2010

Pros: 4 stars for the program. Does what it needs to do.

Cons: It's a good downloader but still missing some functionality for advanced users.

Summary: Some things I'd like to be added:
    - "Up" and "Down" button for queue
    - Automatic pre-specified directory for specific tag
    - More advanced scheduler

Summary: A very good download program to use if you still use dial up.

    "User friendly and fast."

    by bcyew001 on September 3, 2010

Pros: So far my experience with this software, it is the best software for downloading videos.

Cons: It is limited to a few sources of videos. I hope more sources will be incorporated in the future enhancements.

    "Botched-up update"

    by Sakuya_Yoru on August 31, 2010

Pros: The downloader still works like it was meant. Takes care of all my download needs.

Cons: The new version is only good for downloading. It's software updater is a joke, the coding wasn't written right. Also non of the links work on it, even the bug reporter button, you'll have to go online and post int eh websites forums.

Summary: Get if for the downloader, down even bother to use the software updater.I says I have the wrong version of software. I'm updated past the software that it say i needs. Sometimes it wont even have the write info, instead of the update software number, it'll have the build number instead.
