  Present version is bloated with adware, even for its download GUI, and its functionalities. I'll leave all the cons listed by the other reviewers as they have it spot-on.

  Summary

  This present version is not worth your time downloading/installing. If you still want to try Orbit Downloader, find version 2.8.20 instead. That old last version has a more user-friendly interface, not much bloatware to unselect upon installation, and no bloatware when currently running.

  Nothing good to say about this application except the interface is clean and easy to use.

  I have just had to reinstall windows 8. Due to blue screen error. At the time I didn't know what caused the blue screen error. After reinstall 8.0 upgraded to 8.1 as I didn't know what had caused the error I didn't want to use the image backup as it may have contained a virus. So I decided to do a file by file and application by application. After the upgrade I reinstall your latest version of Advanced System Care and also their Driver Booster. All was working fine until I ran Driver booster. While running driver booster the laptop went back to the blue screen and just as this happened I recall that prior to the first crash I also ran Driver Booster and now it's crashed again. I can without doubt state that the cause of the crash was certainly the Driver Boost application. It took me 6 days to restore 3 of our PC's then after running this application one of them crashed again. I emailed them 5 times 5 days later still no response. Crap application ans P_ss poor support

  Free version doesn't do what it says on the tin ever time it runs a complete scan it finds the same faults example it always finds one registry error even if I run the scan again same error with the hyperlink to the exact same folder and says it fixed the error but run it again and there it is again. error reported nothing came back from their support team. (If they have one that is)<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Aug 12, 2014<p/>I would also like to say the since download.com became CNET the products they push are very suspect in terms of the reliability, stability, value, tested performance reviews and tested it they are virus free. Customer support from both the developers and CNET non existent. Download.com used to be my first port of call for software now I only use the site to get details of software ect.

• Best download accelerator

  Pros

  Fastest download speeds to max out my 50 Mbps connection with quickly maxing out the download speed at start times. It is reliable to restart uncompleted downloads and add multiple mirror sites to improve download speeds. It has a great interface for organizing your downloads and is clear to show what you are downloading. Lightweight program with useful settings such as scheduling, proxy, passwords for sites, virus scanning (your own program), and exclusion for sites which don't work well with download accelerators.

  Cons

  The installation has adware or freeware included, but can easily be avoided by choosing not to install them. It's the user's fault for not checking what they are installing. There are also ads within the program, but they are not intrusive.

  Summary

  I've used this program for a long time and it has served me well. It works better than popular add-ons like DownThemAll!. But since 4.1.0.9, when using the FlashGot add-on, there pops up an unnecessary window. Other than using the orbitmxt.dll from 4.1.0.9, I will see if removing certain integrations with the Firefox browser will fix this. Oh and the FlashGot add-on has become necessary as the developers have not been updating this program, and files don't open directly from the Firefox browser by clicking on them otherwise. I've always liked how the program pops up with the open and open folder button when the download finishes. But goes away after a few seconds. The cons are negligible because they are easily circumvented, and the fact that this program is by far the best download accelerator available.

  Pros

  worked quite well, didn't crash too much unless overloaded, you had to know a bit about FTP and peer connections maybe to get the really fast downloads, but overall, having a good amount of control and ability to resume downloads helped LOADS. I used to get things like 500MB MP3 mixes / videos and this was great, also streaming a movie you could ask it to D/L as well so you could watch it offline later...

  Cons

  you have to be aware of space though because it stashed your streams and incomplete d/loads in an obscure place - search all files *.* and look for incomplete downloads that you recognize / dates of downloads and you can kinda hunt them down that way. Also not ALL files support resume! so you have to know a little bit about FTP and servers etc. but if you do... you'll be OK. or learn.

  Summary

  this used to be a must for me. it still is. after a re-install to win 8 and now a backgrade to win 7, I need this orbit thingy to get all my driverfiles etc. as well as all my bits and pieces for programming. Orbit used to be the one for all this. In fact I can get all the URLs from my old installation of XP etc. and go thru what I d/loaded in the past and maybe whack 'em into my new orbit install? BUT I WON'T. WHY? I HEAR THERE'S VIRUS / SPYWARE CODE IN THE LASTEST RELEASE OF ORBIT. BE CAREFUL SINCE AVG or NORTON etc. WON'T PICK THIS UP. I'M GONNA BE v.CAREFUL WITH THIS FROM NOW ON. I NEED A DOWNLOAD HELPER URGENTLY BUT THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE MANY ABOUT NOW! LOOK FOR OLDSOFTWARE.com or whatever it's called...?
