Editors’ Review
This parental control software allows kids to access parent-approved Web sites, but its lack of security is more than we can forgive.
You'll have to disclose some personal information during program installation and registration, a hurdle we'd rather not jump. Noah's Net Kid Safe Browser offers a skinnable, easy-to-use interface to set up parents' and kids' accounts. Parents can create their own list of approved/restricted sites or simply choose from the numerous pre-approved interactive Web sites.
We appreciate the useful Microsoft Agent, pop-up blocker, and search tools included. Unfortunately, security is lax. The program doesn't have a parental lock feature like similar apps. Also, a parental control program that can be shut down from the kids' accounts is very odd, to say the least. Noah's Net Kid Safe Browser worked pretty well, but given the security issues, we can't readily recommend this one to security-conscious parents.
