Browse the Web and do more with Netscape's browser suite.
In addition to the Netscape Navigator browser, Communicator includes a complete set of tools for effective everyday communication. Features include Smart Browsing; a three-paned, integrated mail and news interface; roaming access; pinpoint addressing; and a scalable address book (to avoid any compatibility problems, you should back up your old address book). Communicator also offers fully operational roaming support, the ability to download newsgroup articles for offline use, and a Quotes Anywhere feature that allows you to access stock quotes via your Netcenter portfolio.
This release includes improvements in accessing subfolders under the Inbox on certain mail servers, as well as other performance enhancements and bug fixes.

Pros
...for those wishing to use the old Netscape Suite. It has been a long time since I have used Netscape Communicator (almost 8 years) but I know its time has come and passed. However, it is not completely dead. The original suite eventually became the open source Mozilla Suite. Code from this gave birth to Firefox (probably the best browser on the block). Unfortunately, Mozilla Suite has now been discontinued as well. However, for those wanting to use the old Netscape Communicator there is still a very capable and modern option. Code from Mozilla was used to create the SeaMonkey Suite. It looks, acts, feels, and has all of the old parts of the great Netscape browser of the '90s, but with many modern enhancements. I suggest anyone wanting to Use Netscape look at this terrific option.
Cons
For its time, Netscape Communicator was the best. Now it is nothing more than technological nostalgia. However, its legacy is still very much alive in browsers like Firefox and, especially, SeaMonkey.

Pros
This browser is awsome. I have used IE and MOzilla and this is by far the best. It has tabs which make browsing the web very easy so you can have multiple pages open and flip between them easily.
<p>Also, you can set it to store all your passwords so you never have to sign in to any site again. You just click on "autofill" in the tool bar and it puts in your username and password for you.
Cons
Haven't found any yet

Pros
The e-mail program is fully integrated, meaning that you don't need another open window just to keep checking for e-mails (great for lazy people, and quite convenient as well!)
<p>
<p>The editing program is great for making very basic websites, or for viewing and editing websites that are already published on the internet.
Cons
It just wasn't kept updated to keep up with the standards of websites today. You can view simple websites such as Google very well, but go to a website with a complex CSS, such as Yahoo, and it just won't display properly. Many of the objects do not load in the correct area, or not at all.
<p>
<p>It also has a lagging problem, where, when it is loading a website, it might freeze for a couple of seconds. This can be quite annoying to someone used to higher internet speeds.

Other than the fact that it cannot handle most CSS websites (IE4, however, can), it's slow, a memory hog, and likes to throw links and programs all over my system, it's a great browser, I guess.
Use Mozilla firefox instead.

I use Communicator primarily for page building and e-mail. Have tried the new and improved Netscape aka Mozilla, and the Composer component is a regression from Composer in 4.79. As far as e-mail, it is the best going, far superior to Badluck Express, and certainly much less prone to attacks.
