As smartphones become tiny laptops, people store more and more important files on them. However, smartphone memory can still fail, so it's vital that you back up your gadget to save those files. MyPhoneExplorer Client is full of features to help you do that, but there are too many strings attached.
Before you can even start using MyPhoneExplorer Client, you have to download a desktop companion. When you do, the program will try to install some very nasty spam software with it. When you finally go through a painful setup process, you will be greeted by an app that offers a solid helping of control over your phone's files. You can sync desktop apps with their mobile equivalents, back up your files, and even manage your call and contact history. The app connects to your computer over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or through USB. However, to make all of this happen, you have to give the app too many of your phone's permissions. Not just calls or other details that are normal with apps, but debugging and other developer features you need special permissions to get to.
With the type of spammy applications the desktop version tries to install, it's tough to trust this app. It doesn't need the permission it asks for to back up your phone, and MyPhoneExplorer Client could cause problems once it gets them. Since most apps will sync to their Web and desktop clients automatically, you don't need that much power in your backup. You're better off backing up yourself than trusting your entire phone to this app.

"BEWARE!!!!"

Pros
Yes this program works sync outlook contacts, appointments, messages and email. In fact it works great and we are still using POP for email and exchange for everything else. Myphoneexplorer handles that with no problem.
But....Cons
I started with MyPhoneExplorer two years ago when I got a Samsung phone and tried using their poor software for syncing. MyPhoneExplorer worked great. I needed to reinstall recently, and was shocked by the amount of malware installed. I was diligent about opting out of the optional add-ons, but I still got malware.
Run Away!!!!! -

Nice tool for syncing over bluetooth. would rate tool a 5 if it wasn't a malware/ad-ware Trojan horse!
Cons
The software installer for the windows side of my phone explorer is loaded with malware including Babylon toolbar. I missed the little check box embedded in the yada yada text and the install over wrote my home page, default search options and put over 70 updates in my registry.
Software also installs "InfoAtoms" which puts link on webpages you view and "BabylonObjectInstaller" which redirects webpage links.
Go to Control Panel - Uninstall Program and remove both if present.Summary

"Great when it works... but seldom works correctly"

Pros
Easy and quick WHEN it works properly. Which unfortunately, is not too often.
Cons
Freezes up a LOT... some times it takes 30 minutes of restarting to get it to sync. Then when it does sync, about half the time it 'misses' things and does not move things from outlook to the phone even when you change settings to "force outlook".
Summary
Find something else that works, let me know if you do!!! Everything seems to be garbage... and I am disappointed that the phone was advertised as being easy to sync with Outlook, which it requires an app... and the apps are all pretty much garbage.

- Worked with my phone straight away without config
- Always able to connect with the phone

- None important. Would have been nice to be able to view "details" about files on the sdcard in the Files view in the application without having to click each file to see the "Properties".
Summary
Tried this because I could never get HTC Sync (any version including latest) to work properly on my Win7 64-bit system. MyPhone Explorer on the other hand, work right out of the box, and I never had to worry about it again, always connects to my phone without problems. I don't use many Sync features or options, so not a power user.

"Best free syncing program I've found"

Pros
Used myphoneexplorer for over a year and haven't had a problem syncing Outlook to the phone.
Cons
Can't think of a Con. The only problem I've had was with Outlook wanting to put a + sign in front of phone numbers. Had to manually clean that up.
