• Good for beginners

  Pros

  Easy to learn. Teaches the basics of computer programming. Keeps it simple for younger students. Also, the Intellisence feature in the IDE is very helpful for beginners. Also makes it easy to create graphics and Windows forms and controls.

  Cons

  Not possible to create standalone executable.

  Summary

  Good for middle school or high school age students. Provides a bridge to Visual Basic and contains the many of the structures and ideas of all programming languages (branching with conditionals, loops, working with files, graphics etc).<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Apr 11, 2013<p/>This review applies to Small Basic 1.0

• Neat "little" program, not unlike Qbasic / Vbasic

  Pros

  This is a windows small version of Qbasic with a lot of built in code so you don't have to.

  Cons

  On the other hand it does a little to much for you, but should give you a taste for Visual Basic which is use in building Windows apps. But the teacher does not explain herself enough to actually understand the concepts.

  Summary

  This application is basically built to get folks interested in programming so Microsoft can sell more software. Even so it really is a neat way of doing it. Its very simple to follow...It as a command window that opens automatically when you type your first letter to give a choice of commands beginning w/ that letter, and you double click the one you need and puts it in. It covers several concepts important to programming that you have to understand for any language you wish to pursue. It is small, so don't expect to start building apps for windows. You will need to download the instructions with Adobe reader. If you like it you will like Visual Basic, and it is large enough build almodt any application.

  Simple and Fun to use. I was able to find lots of tutorials on Youtube to get project ideas.

  Cons

  I was gettng blue screen issues when testing.

  Summary

  Was very simple to use and my blue screen issues may have just been my machine which I'm troubleshooting now. If I can get it worked out I plan on downloading it again.

  Pros

  Its a basic starter for those wanting to learn vb code writing I tried this product for a few weeks now with some good results.

  Cons

  The cons were that in the intro papers that went with the product go into bare basic ideas they should go into higher aspects of code writing.

  Summary

  Its good to have when referring to when caught up in a problem in vb 2008
