"THIS IS NOT A RANDOM OPINION"

    April 3, 2012  |   By PARRISHNELSON

Version: Microsoft Office Publisher 2010 14

    Pros

This program is unuseable? Why does Microsoft make products for the onlooker but ignore the user. The result is a desktop exhibit without an ROI [return on investment.]
What is appealing to the working class user is productivity, not flim flam? When you were considering buying from Microsoft you found yourself in front of a Microsoft display with a salesperson and some unemployable moron that happened to be standing around gawking. As you studied the screen you made suggestions, to explain your needs as Microsoft listened, and you bought one. It's no sooner than you sat down that -surprise- as the other two went on looking over your shoulder, the Microsoft company began to pay more attention to the bum! Have you heard of The Black Box Effect? It's kind of a joke.
And so you must always find an edition that was released years ago because they have sat on their butt earning nothing since they sold "one!"

    Cons

This program does not work correctly. The infrastructure of the program is seriously damaged. There are issues concerning copying and pasting, text formatting, default settings, and document compatibility that are numerously posted on the web: that are unfortunately going "unanswered."
Compared to the earlier edition's more minor flaws, this edition is dilemmic. There are better ways to spend $169. The good news is you can purchase an older Publisher for half that from a third party seller.

    Summary

It may not be simplest to return to a 2007 or 2003 model for a productivity oriented program.
Progress at Microsoft is a disappearing thing?
Believe it or not: Microsoft avatars are notably more foreign to the Americans so users feel more comfortable with the idea of killing them than say Bill Gates or their greedy, lazy clubhouse. Typically, with Microsoft 2010, this occurs every half hour and takes 8 minutes to correct. Hmmm, I guess you're unlikely to think of Ajay Bhatt as you're hypertension increases to anger against all forms of life.
Who'd make more dollars maintaining their older products is Microsoft? I may be an unconvincing critic, but I have bit of common cents. Time is money: Don't waste mine!

    "simple but a big gotcha"

    June 6, 2011  |   By ttocsmij

Version: Microsoft Office Publisher 2010 14

    Pros

simple to use (well, with enough practice)

    Cons

Totally proprietary file format; and the file format changes from version to version with little or no backwards compatibility.

    Summary

As long as one's needs are simple and there is never a chance that one will need to share their files with anyone else, this is a fine product. Otherwise, one might wish to carefully review their requirements and any other options they may have before purchasing. This is all from sad experience. I have purchased four versions already but every release of Office brings a new file format ... sigh.
