This simple utility does more than access several search engines; it lets you quickly refine your search. Mercurius analyzes search results and finds out which words and phrases are used in the same context as yours. Then you can search again, adding these words and repeating the process until you find what you're looking for.

The interface leaves much to be desired. It would gain from being more integrated into Internet Explorer. The trial version doesn't allow you to fully value the utility because it disables crucial options such as search depth and the number of pages to analyze. Mercurius may help students and Web researchers the most.

This Web-search tool will help you narrow down and improve your searches by suggesting keywords and phrases you could use. It is aimed at all search-engine users who have ever been daunted by the overwhelming number of results often returned, or who have found it difficult to think of the keywords to use to track down information on the Internet. With Mercurius you perform a preliminary search using your best-guess keywords, and then use any of its keyword suggestions to make the search more specific. It allows you to iterate the search as many times as necessary, using keywords that are more specific each time, focusing the search until you find what you want.
