CNET Editors' review
This security application provides a multilevel layer of protection against hackers, viruses, Trojan horses, and other threats to your computer. Malware Remover Backdoor Guard showcases an eye-catching interface composed of several options, requiring a visit to the help file. As expected, this application protects against known and unknown viruses delivered via e-mail. A guard alert appears each time the program acts to protect your system and when a new program is accessed. Though it offers protection from malicious intrusions, we were able to access a site from an unknown zone and download some files during testing. The application can monitor most commonly used programs and can be configured to automatically access the Internet. You can also lock your browser, e-mail accounts, and chats while you're away from your computer. Though users will find this program easy-to-use, its limited functionality during the trial is a disappointment.Publisher's Description
From Malware Remover:
Backdoor Guard provides security in a user-friendly interface, protecting your PC from hackers, trojan horses, spyware and adware communications and DOS attacks and protects against emerging viruses before they attack. This program includes four interlocking security services: a firewall, an application control, an Internet lock, and Zones.
The firewall controls the door to your computer and allows only traffic you understand and initiate. The application control allows you to decide which applications can and cannot use the Internet. The Internet lock blocks Internet traffic while your computer is unattended or while you're not using the Internet. Monitor all activity on your computer and alert you when a new application attempts to access the Internet. Offer protection from malicious code intrusions, keeping the information on your PC safe and private.

"Don't use it!!!!!!!!!! Please read!!"
Version: Malware Remover Backdoor Guard 1.2
Pros
nothing at all!!
Cons
I don't ever warn so strongly against a software, but I will make an exception here! I installed malware remover and scanned, only to find i had 9 infected reg keys and 8 infected files. Now , looking these over i noticed that they consisted of some xxxcool reg key, my legit, bought antivirus, my cookies from signing into msn hotmail, my Lexmark printer software-conisdered backdoor virus, and a windows update file considered trojan! Now first let me assure you i am no stranger to pcs and have been savy enough to win on cnet weekly forum question. Now, i have reg backup and install guards on my pc so no reg key gets by unless i know it. I know what programs are what blah blah etc....I also noticed that those xxxcool reg keys are not in my registry . I have a very good reg editor\finder etc... Then I get mad, unistall, email the company to complain because they want money to get rid of this so called malware. Now, I reinstall, so i can scan and take snap shots to prove my woes and what do i get? More infected files all of the sudden! 14 this time and more reg keys! Now keep in mind i installed nothing new in this time, all i did was email them, so i now have 6 new malware infection and more in the registry! I feel sorry for a typical user who runs this and gets taken. To me, this is more of a crime than the actual malware. Don't beleive me though, check it yourself.
