This program combines a suite of useful system utilities with a rather unimpressive antispyware tool. When you first launch Maintenance Checkup Home Edition, you'll notice most of the nonresizable main window's real estate is reserved for the devloper's logo and basic instructions; clicking the Show Advanced Options button takes you to the main control panel. The application quickly and capably removes items such as junk files, invalid registry keys and entries, cookies, and typed URLs. Although you can exclude certain types of files from the scan by unchecking a box, we wish you could specify which drives or folders the application should scour. It also would be nice if Maintenance Checkup Home Edition included a registry-backup tool in case it accidentally deleted a crucial component. As an antispyware tool, this program proved far less useful than specialized software, failing to remove the majority of the spyware we installed for testing purposes. When we tried to visit the developer's home page for help, many of the support links were inoperable. This app is certainly suitable for those who want to free their PCs from bloat, as long as they already have another more capable program for exterminating spyware.
