Publisher's description of Macrium Reflect
Macrium Reflect is an award winning backup and disk imaging solution for Vista, XP and Server 2003. Reflect can backup files and folders into a compressed mountable archive file or your entire PC into a single image. Using this image you can restore the entire disk, partition or individual files and folders. You can create full, differential and incremental images to optimize backup speed and disk space requirements. Images can be stored on local or network drives, CD or DVD media, and removable drives connected using USB or Fire Wire. In the event of a total loss of the Windows operating system your PC can be started using the Reflect recovery CD. This CD starts a compact version of Linux or Windows PE 2.0 with a familiar mouse and graphical interface. You can then recover partitions and entire disk images with just a few clicks of your mouse.
Version 4.2 build 2055 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

- "Involved backup program"
- Reviewed on: April 30, 2009
- Version reviewed: Macrium Reflect 4.2 build 2055
Macrium Reflect is a program that offers external backup capabilities. It worked very well for us, but novice users might be a little lost with some of the more detailed file settings.
The user interface uses colorful command buttons and tabs for easy navigation. We did find a misspelling, which for a paid program, is a pet peeve of ours. But beyond that, we found it extremely easy to add files using the built-in wizard. From there, we were able to select the file types to include or exclude, as well as select the backup location, including a hard disk, network folder, or CD/DVD. As soon as we gave it our permission to do so, the program successfully backed up our selected files to our USB. Likewise, we were able to create a backup image of a hard disk and save it to a DVD. It took a little longer than our first test, but was successful all the same. The program includes a scheduling feature, which simplifies the process even further for the user. The VBScript File and MS-DOS Batch Files generation features might be a little more involved for novices, but the rest of the program's feature are pretty straightforward.
Macrium Reflect comes with an extensive Help menu, and a sufficient 30-day trial period. Despite a few involved features, this backup program reliable performance will appeal to all user levels.

Version: Macrium Reflect 4.2 build 2055
"Works were i dont need it...But still works!!"
Pros: Very nice interface and makes disk imagis pretty quick. I really love the linux based recovery.
Cons: Didnt work were i needed it most! The lunix based recovery disk didnt work in a clients Emachines c3070 not even in compatability mode! But i guess its more to do with the computer then the recovery disk.
Summary: I love this product i have it installed at my grandfsther house and once a month it backs his computer up automaticly to my ftp server at home its just great! Works very ery well, just beware if your running a Emachines c3070!!

Version: Macrium Reflect 4.2 build 2055
"Nice package with a few minor issues"
Pros: Once setup the software works well. Incremental backups save an enormous amount of time. There are options for disk imaging and file level backups. Good value for money
Cons: The disk imaging function doesn't work for software (dynamic) RAID. Dynamic disks are a widely used feature of Windows Server 2003. So people running Windows Server might not be able to image their mirrored drives.
Summary: A lot of the competing backup products try to extort $1000's out of users just Becca's they run the Windows Server O/S and not XP or Vista. So it nice that the price is the same regardless of the O/S being used.
There are lots of option... read more >> -
Version: Macrium Reflect 4.2 build 2055
Pros: Clean, and Easy to install and use.
Cons: nothing that I could find.
Summary: After losing all of my data on Drive C:\ I am a believer that a hard drive can die at ANY time. Even with the BEST monitoring software, a Hard Drive can still die at any time.
I only tested this on a Windows Xp version SP2.

Version: Macrium Reflect 4.2 build 2055
Pros: Made images and created startup disk with no problems. Images I created verified as good.
Cons: Not any, yet.
Summary: Easy to use, rating will go to excellent if I would need to restore my system and it works successfully. I hope I never have to find out if it works!!!

Version: Macrium Reflect 4.2 build 2055
"Fast with clean interface and wizards to simplify tasks"
Pros: Everything you need for home or small business use to insure recovery from a disk crash or virus infection. Not cluttered or over the top with features like some of the main stream products. Good support.
Cons: Not much. Would like to see disk space management by defining the maximum number of backups rather than just by date created.
Summary: A great package at a very fair price. The full version is worth the £22.99 as it adds a lot of really useful features over the free version, such as differential/incremental backups (very fast!) disk space management, auto verify and auto shut down.
