Publisher's Description
From NRLComputers:
The Machine Scanner is aimed at fast remote management of any server, workstation, laptop or network equipment (over 1700 types of device supported) on any scale, continually scanning subnets using parallel processing and multi-threading technology to ensure that the data gathering, management and monitoring jobs run as close to real time as possible. The Machine Scanner system gathers vast amounts of information out of box in minutes, stores manually input data per device found, sorts the discovered devices (in accordance to your preferences), monitors on thousands of criteria types, runs any number of rules, scripts or packages against all or defined lists of devices (e.g. security patching) This type of power and granularity is exploded onto a system that connects to multiple devices all at once, and all with no client installation. (All management, monitoring and data gathering is completed remotely.) This introduces a new higher level of management to any operational team. Version 4.2 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

"Get your Weekends back --Implement Machine Scanner"
Version: Machine Scanner 4.2
Pros
This software allowed us to patch our entire enterprise including servers behind firewall using only one member of staff, rather than the team of 5 that was required over the entire weekend before we implemented Machine Scanner. To get back my weekends is justification enought to implement this product.
The hardware & software inventory I found acurate and allows us to keep an up to date database of all server settings.
Machine scanner also allows control of services, meaning you can assign the rights to control a service to 1st line team via MS(without giving elevated rights to the box inself), which can cut down out of hours call out's for 3 rd line teams.
All in all it has cut down on work outside of core hours and reduced the number of call outs our team recieves.
Roll out was exceptionally easy, returning all our machines on the first scan.
Cons
I found the interface a bit confusing to start with and it takes about an hour to get to grips with it But once you understand the thought process it makes sense, and jobs are easy to implement.

"Good Product - Loads of Features"
Version: Machine Scanner 4.2
Pros
Easy to install - great to use - does everything I an possible think of -
Cons
500 dollars is a bit pricey - especially as this is a cut down version (full version must be awesome) - if you made it cheaper I think you'd have a winner
