The publisher claims Lunascape is perfect for beginners learning how to use tabbed browsing, but the actual product tells a different story. Instead of simplifying the process, this freeware browser program adds a new set of file menu options and toolbar buttons to the browser window. There's nothing groundbreaking in its design, although Internet Explorer users will easily recognize standard buttons and tool tips help with the new array of choices.
Lunascape adds the ability to quickly reload all tabs, close all tabs, and view recently closed tabs, and these extras made for impressively effective tab management. For users already accustomed to tabbed browsing, these will be welcome additions, but they don't make it easier for the newbie to get started.
Another downside: the help file failed to load in our tests. You're on your own in figuring out some of the less intuitive extras found in the expanded file menu. This includes the Functions menu, which offers an odd selection of search options and a link to translate text from Japanese to English.
Lunascape offers a wider range of tab management features and functionality for intermediate or advanced users, but the lack of support is a serious drawback, even considering its freeware status.
