They give you tons of options. There are literally thousands of icons to choose from. Plus the option of several expansion packs made this software very appealing.
VERY unstable. Crashes frequently. Interface is difficult and inconsistent. Text "Effects" don't always work or stick. Exported images don't always come out looking the same as your original (fuzzy edges, bold fonts that weren't bold in the design, text "effect" looks different, etc). Several designs simply disappeared - despite "saving" during the process. The background is there but, the graphics are gone. The leading and trailing edges of italicized phrases get clipped because the text box doesn't compensate for the extension of the letters. Copy/Paste changed fonts. Undo would take you several steps back, sometimes all the way to the beginning. ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSE. The free trial has no functionality. You can look but, you can't touch.
I'm really pleased with the final Logo I came up with - except for the clipped letters but, it was a real struggle to get there. Given all of the issues I had and NO response from customer service, I'm really upset I paid for this software. The ONLY redeeming value for me was the variety of icons to choose from.
I have just downloaded the trial verison of this software....very big file/download....very little content in trial version.
There are very few objects & options available on the trial version, therefore making it vitually impossible to design a logo relevant to your business/project, unless you happen to be lucky that the trial version contains an image/graphic you want. This software lasted less than 2 minutes on my computer before I unistalled it. I have tried other logo creation trial versions such as Logosmartz which were much better (although not perfect).
when you want to add text to your logo, you have a 6 options: plain text, circular text, projective text, wavy text, outline text and memo tekst. but you can't have for example outlined circular text... which is not much to ask is it?
also, except for shadow and blur and 2 other things I never would want to use for my text, you can't add any effects to the text.
and when you resize something, it doesnt show the real size it's going to be, it just seems you have to guess and see what happens.
It's always disappointing to see a user did not find any value in our software. We urge our users to contact us directly if you are experiencing difficulty in using Logo Design Studio. It also seems suspect when back to back users find absolutely "No Pros" in the program and then give reasons in the Cons that are incorrect (this is a common practice with competitive software publishers):
1) Yes, you can have outlined circular text, outlined wavy text, and outlined projective text; once you have added your text to the logo canvas you simply need to adjust the outline in the Tools section directly to the right of the canvas.
2) You can add plenty of effects to text, including the different types of projective, wavy, outline, circular, memo and simple; the different styles you can get by changing up the font that is applied to the text; the different color options that allow you to place gradients or an actual picture or texture directly inside the text; or adding different text effects that include adding a shadow, blur, frame or even embossed look.
3) You can resize the logo canvas easily by doing so from the menu (adjust the size of your logo based on pixels, inches, millimeters or centimeters). You can resize the text by using standard font size adjustments. You can resize shapes and objects by adjusting the options in the Tools section once you have selected one or the other on the canvas. There is no guesswork involved; once you know the size of your canvas, it is simply a matter of resizing anything on the canvas to get the best look. Also, when you are ready to export your logo for use in any online or print project you are walked through the export options that include resizing the logo to your required dimensions based on size or DPI (quality settings). And, once you export your logo or graphic, you can easily resize it dynamically if you are just inserting it into a Word document.
We are happy you at least tried out the demo version, but are surprised at the comments (seems suspect that not a single positive comment was offered, a common bashing technique by competing software publishers).
The UI (user interface) was based on Microsoft's Office 2003 interface, which is fairly easy to work with.
We based our Logo Design Studio interface on an easy premise: you add items to the logo canvas on the left side, and then adjust their look using the tools, colors and effects found directly to the left of the logo canvas. Once you are happy with your design, you simply use the File menu options (something found in almost every software application) to either save it for future modification, or export it to an image format for easy use in any online or print project.
Because our full version includes high quality, royalty free objects and pre-designed logo templates, we did not think a 200 MB demo was the way to go. So, in the demo, we kept the full functionality of the program, but replaced the high quality objects and templates with lower quality versions that are only meant to show the possibilities of Logo Design Studio. This kept the demo size smaller.
In reading reviews like this, we urge people to keep an open mind and give the demo a try if you are interested in a program like this. Trying for yourself is the only real way to find out if this program is for you, or to give another similar product a try.
