As the first adult-adventure hero, Leisure Suit Larry was both mensch and chauvinist, trying to fill the role of lovable loser while objectifying women at every turn. It's been almost nine years since the previous installment of the franchise, and the gameplay, graphics, and controls of Magna Cum Laude indicate that Larry has aged fairly well.
Aside from the juvenile humor, much of which is devoted to bodily functions, the basic gameplay of Leisure Suit Larry Magna Cum Laude involves "conversations" in which Larry must say the right thing to score with the ladies. During a one-on-one with country girl Sallie Mae, you guide a sperm through an obstacle course. The better you do controlling the sperm, the better Larry's lines are. Two other diversions demonstrate some of the minigames. In one, Larry delivers fliers while catching paper airplanes; in the other, he dances with Sallie Mae by matching beats and buttons. The 3D interface looks great, though the demo doesn't provide much guidance on how to play. The full game is definitely intended for adults, but the demo seems more PG-13: it sprinkles a few bad words here and there, but contains no nude scenes or explicit sexual situations.
Publisher's description
From VU Games :CNET Editor's Note: This game has been rated "Mature (17+)" by the ESRB for mature humor, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, and use of alcohol. The demo does not contain nudity, but it does contain mature humor, strong sexual content, and strong language.
With gorgeous coeds everywhere, college dweeb Larry Lovage is chasing around more than his diploma. He's trying to live up to the legend of his uncle Larry Laffer, everyone's favorite polyester playboy. It's the next generation of Leisure Suit Larry, with new twists on all the outrageous games and romantic entanglements, which made the original such a hilarious hit.
In this demo for the latest installment in the Leisure Suit Larry series, you'll have access to the flier minigame, as well as a conversation and dance with Sally Mae.

"Lots of Laughs "This Game has no Real Ties to its Predescor""
Pros: Excellent idea, We grew up loving Leasure suit Larry.
Cons: Game has loops which get the user stuck, to many bugs to list. This game however is very very limited ability for gameplay.

Version: Leisure Suit Larry Magna Cum Laude demo
Pros: There is no pro. If it was possible to rank this game zero stars, I would do so.
Cons: I really loved playing the earlier LSL games. But this new game is totally different. It is not an adventure at all. It is just a bunch of childish games with no quality whatsoever. In the first of those games, for instance, you have to use the up and down keys to avoid hitting red sperms and touch green ones: this is a game that - on a computer in 1985 - would be too simple.
The resemblance with a real adventure is that your character (Larry) walks in an environment: a building. You would expect that you have to solve riddles and puzzles as in the older LSL adventures - but that is not so.
There is no humor to be found. The game was a waste of my money.
I feel deceived by Sierra. I was looking forward to a new LSL game in the old style but using new computer technology. It is nothing of that.
So, if you once were a LSL fan: don't buy this! If you are in doubt: download the Demo first and try it. I bet that, after trying it, you will decide NOT to buy the full version.
Thanks, Sierra! For this total deception.

"Not at all like the Larry that we came to love...."
Pros: The game looks good. The graphics are well-done and halfway interesting.
Cons: The nature of the problem solving is very different, having been reduced to a series of cheap arcade games. The controls weren't particularly intuitive and it seemed to loop back to problems a lot, even where the particular hurdle had been passed already.
Finally, no uninstaller is included. Windows doesn't recognize the installation at all and I seem to be stuck with a game that I don't like, won't buy or recommend, and won't play again.
Not your best work, Sierra.
