Editors' review

Leap Free MP3 to Amr Mobile Ringtone Converter offers to let users convert their sound files into ringtone files. By slicing the process down to the smallest number of steps and providing a simple layout, this program is a winner.

Its interface was so simple we instantly felt comfortable, thanks mostly to the excellent onscreen instructions. The command icons were clearly labeled and easy to navigate. The entire process was broken down into three easy steps. We simply selected an MP3 from our collection and chose whether to save it as an Amr or an OGG file, which are preferred types for ringtones. Our song converted surprisingly fast, taking only a few seconds for a 4-minute song. It has a built-in audio/video player, too. Our new file sounded crisp and was the same length as the original song. While we didn't download it to a phone in order to test it, there's no reason to believe files created with Leap Free will behave any differently from other OGG ringtones. The program also contained a surprising feature for downloading and saving YouTube videos. This easy-to-use program is a money-saver since, in addition to being free, you'll never have to buy another ringtone.

Leap Free MP3 to Amr Mobile Ringtone Converter is a free program. It leaves folders behind after uninstalling. This program's excellent layout and fast results make it a great ringtone creator, and we recommend it.

    "Decent and easy Freeware"

    February 15, 2011   |   By SavageSiren

Version: Leap Free MP3 To Amr Mobile Ringtone Converter 5.0

    Pros

Incredibly easy to convert files. Clean and simple user interface. Fast conversion rate.

    Cons

I wish it had the capability to SEND the converted ring tones to my phone (as ToneThis has, which I love, but ToneThis doesn't support MetroPcs or Boost Mobile). So now it's a 2 step process for me since I must sms myself the files I converted.

    Summary

It's a wonderful way to convert mp3's to AMR's or OGG's, however it won't give you the option to SEND these files to your phone (at least, not that I can see, but I will continue to fiddle with it and try to find a way to do so in the advanced settings). PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG, however, and inform me if there is a way to use this software to send the ring tones. That would be great!

Other than that, it's super easy and fast to convert the files for free.

    Pros

It was easy to download and install

It was clumsy and the instructions didn't help.

I uninstalled it and until they come out with easier software I won't be using it.

"I needed to convert my mp3s to AMR to use as ringtones"

    July 08, 2010   |   By pelicancraig

Version: Leap Free MP3 To Amr Mobile Ringtone Converter 5.0

    Pros

Extremely easy to use. I had switch to Verizon & found they won't let me use my old MP3s as ringtones. After searching for solutions I read that I needed to convert them to AMR. I did, & transferred one to my phone & it accepted it as a ringtone.

    Cons

    None so far.

    Summary

I only tried one conversion & it worked fine, so I don't expect any problems. I had already had it trimmed to a length usable for cell phones, plus I can transfer directly to my phone with a USB connection. I am so glad it worked & now will try more MP3s. The ones you get with cell phones stink. Now when my wife calls, it will play a special song I have for her.

While this program does as it says, I am finding that the output volume level is too low to use an Amr file as a ringtone
