Lammer Context Menu stands out from the context menu-enhancing crowd by sticking some cool features into your Windows Explorer habit. Granted, there are a number of excellent tools for doing that, but Lammer offers some neat extras that set it apart.

The tools that Lammer comes with can be fairly advanced, but that shouldn't scare off novice users. Select by type, for highlighting files with the same extension, is one of the easiest-to-use power options in Lammer, and many of the others include additional options menus. Batch rename, for renaming multiple files at once, can add sequential numbers to files or insert text in the middle of a name. The search and replace feature is equally robust. Note that certain obscure functions, such as the File Operations option under the Search and Replace actions window, haven't yet been turned on.

The most robust tool in the Lammer box is the Path Operations. The window that opens from Path Operations lets you Move, Copy, Delete, List, and Change attributes on an impressive scale. You can target files, folders with content, or empty folders, keep relative paths, filter by attributes, and save templates for repetitive actions. Other excellent features in Lammer include Copy Path, iPhone PNG for compressing and decompressing images for iPhones, opening a command prompt, digitally sign files, open a file in Notepad, and calculate a file's checksum. Out of the box, Lammer Context Menu provides useful and expansive features, and functioned flawlessly in our test. There's nothing lammer about that.

It is the CNET secure downloader that hijacks your browser if you're not careful to de-select the default option. This happens with any secure CNET download. SHAME ON CNET! Always use the "direct download link" if there is one. The product itself works well

The cnet reviewers even said this program was complex. They were not kidding. My machine: Windows 7. 1. THIS PROGRAM HIJACKS your browser by making yahoo your default search engine and default home page. 2. Installation is complex. There are two .exe files that need to be downloaded one after another. After you install Lammer.Context.Menu.v1.0.3.** You then have to go to the folder you installed Lammer.Context.Menu.v1.0.3.** and open a zip folder with the same name. After you install the zip folder, nothing happens. I can't find where even though Lammer.Context.Menu was installed. Update: found it. http://snag.gy/EzBOB.jpg
