CNET Editors' review
While this easy-to-use freeware does a nice job of logging computer activity, it only will be able to stop the youngest of tykes. KidLogger has a basic interface with minimal options that only allow you to open logged files or disable the program. The program will record accessed applications, documents, and files, and it also will log keystrokes and typed URLs. But unlike some full-fledged monitoring suites, it can't actually block certain programs or Web pages. In our tests, the program worked fine, but alas it can't be password-protected. Therefore, we were easily able to unistall it via the Start menu, and we suspect many savvier kids would do the same thing. If you have very young children but not much cash, KidLogger might suffice, but most parents will desire a more secure solution.Publisher's Description

"Not so free, not so good"
Version: KidLogger 5.6.16
Pros
Easy to install
Does some basic activity logCons
-lack of a proper documentation
-the "send to e-mail" option does not work, even if the test is OK ("standard" network config: ISP-router-PC)
-the "basic" acount on kidlooger site offers just screenshots and activity logs
-the typed text reported in activity log is scrambled (repeated keys, broken lines)Summary
Maybe it's good, but the evil concept "we are good, pay us a bucket of money to see how good we are" it's annoying.

"In-Accurate"
Version: KidLogger 1.4
Pros
Good program for kids at best. easy to use. good "guide" of use.
Cons
In-accurate screen shots aren't of websites actually visited. Log record also in accurate. Cookies also affects this program quite a bit.
Summary
overall o.k not accurate as to websites visited.

"Great Free URL & KEY Logging Application"
Version: KidLogger 5.6.16
Pros
Password protection does exist for changing settings. Users on my business network do not have read access or delete access to the folder the log files are saved to. This means I dont have to BLOCK any sites, they can go on what they like, I check the logs later, any keywords I have setup will bring up screen shots of what they were doing at the time. Anything I dont like I can use as evidence against them (gross misconduct) and fire them :)
Cons
Setting up the USB stick to auto install on all computers did not work, this might be something to do with the security level on the computers however!
Summary
Great Free App, If you know what you are doing when you set the computer up, there is no getting round it. I didnt want to block things on the network as I have no idea what users might need access to at a moments notice. This way you can tell your users that they are being watched and this will let them police themselves.
THIS IS NOT A VIRUS OR PEICE OF MALWARE, It just looks like one to most antivirus packages because of the fact that it SPIES on the user!! -
"Software does not perform everything it claims to do"
Version: KidLogger 5.6.11
Pros
Easy to install. User interface is straightforward to use.
Cons
The only feature which I really required does not work correctly. I needed this application to record keystrokes but this is not happening consistently.

"Lack of customization"
Version: KidLogger 5.6.11
Pros
Very simple, easy to install program. Doesn't carry all the extra baggage many programs do.
Cons
Certain functions of the program lack simple customization options one would expect.
I downloaded the program mainly for the screenshot function. However, the program only allows screenshots to be taken at intervals between 1 & 60 MINUTES. Programers should expand the options quite a bit further. Otherwise, its a useless program to me if I can't customize it. -
"Good, easy install, fairly stealthy. Does a good job."
Version: KidLogger 5.6.11
Pros
Quick download and install, good basic controls, mostly stealthy.
Cons
If your kid is a computer nerd, they can see the processes running and it's named kidlogger. Should be KL or something else that doesn't give it away. Pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL, if known and used by the kids, will quickly give away the fact that a key logger is running.
Summary
Good stable product, and (with a few renaming efforts) stealthy unless kids (or others) are computer saavy and make efforts to see if key loggers are running.
To make truly "stealthy" do the renaming suggested in original post, then disable the Task Manager that displays all processes running merely by pressingCtrl-Alt-Del or right right clicking over the date/time. Many ways to disable the task manager. I thing the easiest is this..
Recommend renaming Folder name and shortcut names in "Start > All Programs". I renamed to "Format Disks" and took out names KidLogger in submenu text. Run for a few hours and make sure it gets past your firewalls, malware, spyware and antivirus controls without popups to give it away.
Updated on Dec 23, 2011
Start > Run > regedit
Highlight Computer
Ctrl-F(find fuction) and look for DisableTaskManager.
For each occurence found (1 or 2), Modify the value to a "1".
That's it. Then this is truly pretty stealthy, even for experiened users. I keep it on my HP Pvvilion laptop with all the bells and whistles and anti-malware, anti-spyware, firewall and anti-virus, and I'm never aware it's running, especially if I've disabled Task Manager. You really have to crawl around under the covers of the PC to see it.
Another short-coming, but not a serious one, is that the web pages aren't displayed correctly using Chrome as the web browser. But, you still have the web address and keystrokes, and everything else you need. -

Summary

"good but not great"
Version: KidLogger 1.4
Pros
quick, easy to use
Cons
stealth could be better, logging isnt 100% accurate
Summary
It doesn't seem to be totally accurate in capturing keystrokes, and sometimes the result is confusing even if it is correct. Example: something like "name@email" is rendered as "name2[shift]email" . Also, keystrokes are sometimes picked up in the wrong order (only seen this once so far, but i'm sure it was the program and not me.. during testing, I logged into my email account, which worked properly indicating that I had typed the name correctly, but the key log showed the name with two of the letters transposed). This is the only keylogger I have ever tried, so I don't know if this is just something to be expected with any software, or if it's a flaw in the program. Another small complaint: all keystrokes captured are logged in all upper-case. (Although for my purpose I don't really care; I'm trying to monitor for inappropriate usage in general, not trying to actually log into someone's email or anything) In any case, even if not 100% accurate, it's enough to get a pretty good idea of what is being done with the computer.
Overall, it's free and gets the job done. I think I'll stick with this one.
Oh, one other thing: THIS PROGRAM IS A KEYLOGGER. ANTIVIRUS/MALWARE DETECTORS ARE MADE TO DETECT KEYLOGGERS. If you get warnings from your antivirus while installing this, it's because you are in fact installing (potentially) malicious software. This doesn't mean that this program is going to steal your bank account - the antivirus program doesn't know that you intended to install a keylogger, and so is doing its job protecting you. In order to monitor someone else while the antivirus is running, you should configure the antivirus to allow exceptions and specify this program. That way, the truly malicious stuff will be blocked but the antivirus will let the logger continue unaffected.
