CNET Editors' review
While this easy-to-use freeware does a nice job of logging computer activity, it only will be able to stop the youngest of tykes. KidLogger has a basic interface with minimal options that only allow you to open logged files or disable the program. The program will record accessed applications, documents, and files, and it also will log keystrokes and typed URLs. But unlike some full-fledged monitoring suites, it can't actually block certain programs or Web pages. In our tests, the program worked fine, but alas it can't be password-protected. Therefore, we were easily able to unistall it via the Start menu, and we suspect many savvier kids would do the same thing. If you have very young children but not much cash, KidLogger might suffice, but most parents will desire a more secure solution.Publisher's Description

"Software does not perform everything it claims to do"
Version: KidLogger 5.6.11
Pros
Easy to install. User interface is straightforward to use.
Cons
The only feature which I really required does not work correctly. I needed this application to record keystrokes but this is not happening consistently.

"Lack of customization"
Version: KidLogger 5.6.11
Pros
Very simple, easy to install program. Doesn't carry all the extra baggage many programs do.
Cons
Certain functions of the program lack simple customization options one would expect.
I downloaded the program mainly for the screenshot function. However, the program only allows screenshots to be taken at intervals between 1 & 60 MINUTES. Programers should expand the options quite a bit further. Otherwise, its a useless program to me if I can't customize it. -
"Good, easy install, fairly stealthy. Does a good job."
Version: KidLogger 5.6.11
Pros
Quick download and install, good basic controls, mostly stealthy.
Cons
If your kid is a computer nerd, they can see the processes running and it's named kidlogger. Should be KL or something else that doesn't give it away. Pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL, if known and used by the kids, will quickly give away the fact that a key logger is running.
Summary
Good stable product, and (with a few renaming efforts) stealthy unless kids (or others) are computer saavy and make efforts to see if key loggers are running.
To make truly "stealthy" do the renaming suggested in original post, then disable the Task Manager that displays all processes running merely by pressingCtrl-Alt-Del or right right clicking over the date/time. Many ways to disable the task manager. I thing the easiest is this..
Recommend renaming Folder name and shortcut names in "Start > All Programs". I renamed to "Format Disks" and took out names KidLogger in submenu text. Run for a few hours and make sure it gets past your firewalls, malware, spyware and antivirus controls without popups to give it away.
Updated on Dec 23, 2011
Start > Run > regedit
Highlight Computer
Ctrl-F(find fuction) and look for DisableTaskManager.
For each occurence found (1 or 2), Modify the value to a "1".
That's it. Then this is truly pretty stealthy, even for experiened users. I keep it on my HP Pvvilion laptop with all the bells and whistles and anti-malware, anti-spyware, firewall and anti-virus, and I'm never aware it's running, especially if I've disabled Task Manager. You really have to crawl around under the covers of the PC to see it.
Another short-coming, but not a serious one, is that the web pages aren't displayed correctly using Chrome as the web browser. But, you still have the web address and keystrokes, and everything else you need.
