  This is the best free color picker. To avoid the unwanted software that comes in the Cnet installer, download Just Color Picker from its manufacturer's web site annystudio.com. It comes as a small portable file from annystudio.com and won't install absolutely anything on your computer.

  Pros

  Used to determine the code for any color displayed on the computer screen. Whether from a web browser, application, desktop, makes no difference. If you can see it on your screen, you can capture its color code, even on a second monitor. Utility has the ability to report code in hex, RGB, even PDF's RGB 1.0 system. Small program, quick to load, easy to use, so you can put onto a thumb drive and use anywhere.

  Cons

  The installer here does bundle in additional software; however, you can decline each add-on so no unwanted software is installed. Just read the screen and follow the prompts. The installer here also doesn't create a shortcut or actual executable on your PC. I had to go to the publisher's web site and downloaded the executable, put it into a folder, and create a shortcut for it. Easy to do if you know your way around Windows, but kind of a pain when compared with installations that do all this for you.

  Summary

  Great utility that does exactly what I needed it to do - determine the precise code of a color. One of my staff is colorblind which makes it a real challenge to design color forms that match a company's logo or existing color documents. However, with this tool, she can pick the exact matching color every time and even select contrasting or similar color schemes. It provides precision in color use and eliminates any guess work.

  Full of malware which broke my PC! Installs unwanted plugins onto web browser which just pop up every time and slows down browsing! Does not install shortcut.

  Easy interface, customizable "copy color value" hotkey, color pallet w/ similar & contrasting colors, many color format options.

  The window is a little big (but not overly so).

  I LOVE this little program, it does exactly what I needed it to (finding the hex value of any color on my screen) and it's easy to use. Nothing fancy, just a good, simple program.

  Small, fast, neat and simple program, which, at the same time, manages to incorporate many extremely useful features. Most of all I like the ability to save color schemes and add notes to my colors, and HSV color editor proved to be very handy..

  Summary

  I've been using this tiny and mighty tool for years, since it's first release. It's always been highly functional, but it's getting better with each new version. I have a shortcut for Just Color Picker on my taskbar, because I can't even count how many times per day I run it when I build web sites. I can say for sure that my daily web designer's routine would be more difficult without Just Color Picker. The whole design studio where I work uses it now, and everyone likes it.   This set off my Norton as a high security risk before it even installed. I have installed other software from CNET and other places without Norton reacting, so I am choosing not to let it install.

  Pros

  Super easy way to get hex colors from anywhere off your screen. I use this tool all kinds of ways. I even create gradients with it by mixing colors and then doing a screen capture. It saves color schemes too. This is a terrific little utility.

  None, it does everything I want and I haven't found anything annoying.

  Summary

  Easy to install, easy to use. I have a desktop icon because I always need to grab this utility to help me with various projects. If you do any work with HTML, CSS, templates, where you need the hexadecimal codes, this will be your favorite tool.
