CNET Editors' review
Just Checking is an incredibly easy-to-use program that lets users keep track of checking account transactions. Although it is not as full-featured as the big-name personal finance programs, it's a good choice for users who need a lightweight program to manage their checking accounts.
The program's interface is attractive and very intuitive. All of the program's features are arranged with graphical buttons across the top, making it incredibly easy to find what you're looking for. It's easy to add, edit, and delete transactions, as well as search for them. The program's built-in Help file is well-written and does a good job of explaining the program's features. Overall, we found the program very easy to use, and we were adding transactions within moments of opening the program. As for features, there's nothing here that really blew us away, but the program does the basics and does them well. We were relieved to see that Just Checking does allow users to import data from other programs, including QIF and OFC files. Users can also print checks from Just Checking, which is a nice feature to have. Although users who are looking for a feature-filled alternative to programs like Quicken won't find it with Just Checking, it is a great choice for users who just need the basics.
Just Checking is free to try but has a 20-transaction limit in the trial version. The program installs desktop icons without asking and leaves a folder behind upon removal. We recommend this program to all users.

"not powerful enough"
Version: Just Checking 3.19
Pros
free to try
Cons
cannot make "memo" reports (even though it says it's able to); auto-fills are not very friendly; entry fields are separate from the checkbook-like field, which creates an extra step.
Summary
glad to have the opportunity to try it; unfortunately i won't be buying this.

"Seems unstable in Windows 7"
Version: Just Checking 3.19
Pros
Ease of use.
Cons
In my experience, transactions are not always saved and tool functions did not work (colors). I uninstalled and reinstalled the program with no improvement. In my opinion, the uninstall is a bit messy with several files remaining here and there.
Summary
If it works for you, it's a nice program. The instant you buy it, whether or not you are satisfied, you own it. I requested my money back from JustApps and was told they do not do refunds and that the product works fine in Windows 7. They offered to troubleshoot my issues. I elected to change to another program.

"Great software for tracking your expenses"
Version: Just Checking 3.19
Pros
Easy to use, Intuitive interface, low price
Cons
I would like to be able to customize the interface more
Summary
After recently switching back to a Windows PC from Mac OS X, I had to find a new software to help me keep track of my checking account transactions. I was using iBank which did the job very well, albeit it had more features than I needed. After trying countless apps for Windows I finally stumbled upon Just Checking. I am amazed how great this little app works! It's simple and I understood how to use it within a matter of minutes. I don't need an app that shows me pie graphs of how much money I have or how much money I should spend, I just need one that will let me track my expenses, plain and simple. For $14.95 you can't beat Just Checking. One thing I would like to change would is the ability to customize the layout of the transactions. For instance, I would like to be able to bold the Name and Amount of the transactions so they stand out better. However this is a very small caveat and will not keep me from recommending Just Checking to everyone I know.

"BEST PERSONAL OR BUSINESS CHECKBOOK OUT THERE"
Version: Just Checking 3.15
Pros
Gives you just what you NEED without all the bells and whistles that bloat the big boys. Simple, quick to setup, just like using a check register which is all I wanted. I've tried Quicken, Quickbooks and others from here.
Cons
I have yet to find anything about this program I don't like.
Summary
It took 5 minutes to set up and import my banking information into the program. Simple, easy to use and familiar buttons without all the garbage that the big programs give you. Opens to your checking account without having to click all over; 10 second check entry and FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE to suit YOUR needs. I highly recommend this program.

"Finally! Check writing software that works ..."
Version: Just Checking 3.15
Pros
The biggest thing I like is the check-writing feature.
Cons
The demo account is still there after purchasing; had to delete all the payees, etc one at a time if I'm not going to use them.
Summary
I find it difficult to write checks by hand, and I had an accounting program installed and pre-printed checks. When I lost that program, every program I found for computer-printed checks required blank check stock or an accounting program. I like this program because it prints on pre-printed checks and no other software is needed.

"Works as advertised, Great Program!"
Version: Just Checking 3.15
Pros
I liked everything about it after downloading the trial version. I think it is an excellent buy and was as easy as abc to learn and use. You won't regret buying and using this program. Much easer to use that others i have tried, highly recommended!
Cons
Nothing at all.
Summary
Ease of use. Free upgrades. doesn't make mistakes like I do!!!

"Cute, full-featured, easy to use checkbook balancer"
Version: Just Checking 3.12
Pros
Nice looking. The interface is easy to use, easy to add common payees, schedule recurring transactions such as that automatic payment from Netflix or your car payment, even letting you specify how far in advance you want it to be added.
Cons
Anyone you've ever paid money to shows up in the list of payees, even ones from other accounts and you can't delete them. I can imagine that after a few months, the list would be egregiously long. It does have autofilling type ability, though.
Summary
It's a pretty little interface unlike most of the cheap software out there. The interface is easy to use, easy to add common payees, schedule recurring transactions such as that automatic payment from Netflix or your car payment, even letting you specify how far in advance you want the payment to show up in your register. This is handy for people like me who can never remember what day a particular item comes out. You can print reports and checks, although I didn't try these features as I don't really need them. This won't help you plan a budget but you can keep track of what you spend in different areas. The search function works well.
Well worth the 14.95, has features and the look and feel of much more expensive programs. Infinitely better than any of the freeware out there. Just what I needed, not much more, nothing less. -
