Current "upgrade" is bundleware, which has never been the case in the past...and the "installation" program keeps failing to install the program.
Summary
I've been a loyal user of JetAudio Basic for a number of years and have considered it one of my essential software programs. However, to say that I'm disappointed and unimpressed with the latest "upgrade" is an understatement. For one thing, the installation file for the latest version comes bundled with a couple of browser add-ons which it will install unless you do a "custom" installation and decline the software. They've never done this before, and it doesn't leave a good impression since this is the sort of thing that tends to be associated with the dodgier kinds of software. To put the cherry on the cake, it looks as if the option to decline the other software may be misleading...because even though I ran the installation program several times (declining the additional software each time), I couldn't actually get it to install Jet Audio which is what it's supposed to do. I'm extremely reluctant to accept software I didn't ask for in order to get Jet Audio, especially when I'm given the false impression that I'm allowed a choice in the matter. To sum up, whatever new management has taken control of Jet Audio has taken what was (in my opinion) a reliably good and trustworthy product and is to all appearances turning it into a piece of crap.

It is by far the best Music Management software for a free price tag. Loving the Equalizer, it really does make your Laptops speakers sound tons better! It is fast to start and stop, both actions are smoothly done. Very easy to scroll through albums and tracks, it even automatically grabbed the artist and track titles. And that's just scratching the surface.
Cons
Radio feature is rubbish, there are very few stations which are only downloadable in a .pls format which Jet doesn't play and VLC cannot either and that's saying something; so useless there.
'Free Tracks' - yeah, the first 50 and then some of the prices of albums are way over priced, so a con there too.
Now the WATCH OUT bit.... this program is so sneaky as it tries to get you to download stuff in all manner of ways: I had to be on super-vigilance-alert all the time as it changes tack to confuse. so, PLEASE be Careful.
Summary
Bar all the crap that Jet tries to sneakily install, it is a fantastic Music Management system and player. The Equalizer is the best bit giving you total freedom to mess around until you get the right sound and you can save it too.
The layout or UI is pleasing on the eye - far more than the others and reliable. I have only scratched the surface, but I think there are lots more great stuff Jet can do. Try it, but you have been warned to vigillantly watch out for its tricks to get you to install stuff.... That's why it gets 4/5 stars. Good luck :-)

For the sound, options, PLAY BACK OF AUDIO AND VIDEO.... if you do not have a good video and sound cards, you are not going to get what this player / recorder can do. A good EQ, presets and two custom sets. Playing of many video and audio formats. The BEST VISUALULIZATIONS FOR ANY PLAYER I HAVE SEEN TO GO ALONG WITH YOUR MUSIC. Looks great on a HD TV with it reminds you then why you bought a HD TV.

Media Monkey, Winamp and Jet Audio, I do not recommend for the beginner, That is why I think why the other people have given this player / recorder a bad review, another reason is the computer it has been downloaded down to. Without a good sound card and speakers. Not recommended for ant type of laptop or tablet, for they cannot produce good sound even with a good sound card unless you are going to listen to the music through a good pair of headphones / in-ear Stereophones with double or triple Flange (fits in ear better and is much more comfortable) , Like Koss, Klipsch, Sennheiser to name a few.

BEST music player and the equalizer is AWESOME!!! I thought my purchased computer speakers were crap until I installed this player! Volume GREATLY increased and with multiple pre-set equalizer settings, I can hear individual instruments, background voices, etc. Uninstalled VLC and Helium (ugh!) immediately. I downloaded from CNET and had no problems. A MUST - When you start installation, you must SELECT "Custom" installation. When you do, DE-SELECT any additional software it's going to automatically install. This should help stop the issues. Automatically links to a Lyric service and many other features! Don't miss out on this great music player!
Cons
So many great things included in this free version, the only "possible" con could be that after opening the song lyric feature, you may have to click on the link to pull the song lyrics in from the song lyric provider site. Not a biggie. Takes about a second and it provides a list of possible songs, in case, the song title is not an exact match.
Summary
BEST (free) music player and the equalizer EVER!!! And I have been looking for over 10 years. Can't understand why so many others were having so many problems. I also still have Windows XP, which I am very happy with, and so maybe that is a factor, as well.

I had Chrome open with multiple tabs and windows. As part of the installation, this program closed Chrome entirely. Re-launching did not open previous tabs and windows, as was my setting. Just a new tab. Settings had changed to just open a new tab. Evil.
On top of that, I downloaded this to convert .wav files. When trying to do so, mp3 or m4a were not output options. Which are common audio file types.
Bonus is that when launched, it displays all other windows above its bottom toolbar.

- Plus the link for downloading is not available
- Two informations for changing music is too much
- The main window uses a lot of space (I have a 1366x768 screen)

Gah. I said PARTIAL replacement of Winamp. I don't like it very much, to be precise. Also, downloading YouTube videos? ILLEGAL! Many users can freely upload the video. Luckily, YouTube has ContentID matcher so BE CAUTIOUS WITH THAT THINGY TOOL.
Plus, too many options. TOO MANY. Winamp is a lot better than this crap. This program offers too many options for me. I don't want to click any other button except for playing music and changing playlist(s).
In four words: This program is annoying.

Player is light, sound is very good.

Not intuitive at all. A nightmare to create a playlist. Impossible to make it do what you want. Cannot go back in random mode to listen to a song again because player doesn't retain position and randomizes again. Difficult to edit.
