"Effective tool for image object removal"

    June 12, 2013   |   By jpeni

    Version: Inpaint 5.2

    Pros

Inpaint is an application that has been developed to do one thing and it does it very well. Even total newbies should be able to produce impressive results after just a few minutes reading the online tutorials.

Despite just a few tools being available, they combine to offer enough power and flexibility to work effectively on a wide range of images and you can achieve some highly impressive results.

One feature that InPaint has is called Guide Lines. With this, you draw green lines to identify background patterns and texture edges that improve the image cloning. These Guide Lines make InPaint use the image background more precisely when overpainting a selected area. Without this extra feature, the resulting area might not match the background as well. I found in my testing that this makes quite the difference in some of the photos I used.

    Cons

Can be slow with large areas of retouching.

    Summary

The advice on the Inpaint website is to work on small areas rather than trying to remove everything in one go and this is excellent advice. Also be prepared to apply the procedure to areas more than once as sometimes you may see a recognizable feature repeated as an irregular pattern. It should be said that this is common to other tools that are designed for this task and is not a complaint leveled specifically at Inpaint.

    "NOT IMPRESSED!"

    November 03, 2012   |   By 88chandru

    Version: Inpaint 4.7

    Pros

EASE OF USE AND WOULD SURELY REMOVE UNWANTED IMAGE ON PHOTO.

    Cons

UNFORTUNATELY, THE PROS ARE NEGATED WITH THE END RESULT OF THE PHOTO.
IMAGE(s) REMOVED LEAVES MARKS THAT LOOKS PIXELATED/DISTORTED.

    Summary

I BELIEVE THAT ON THE WHOLE IT WONT SERVE MY PURPOSE DUE TO THE POOR RESULT/QUALITY

    "Use it all the time!"

    April 15, 2012   |   By LiliaMSU

    Version: Inpaint 4.3

    Pros

    I give it a 10!

    Cons

Cons...? Can't really think of any...

    Summary

I got it from a giveaway site. I just love it! I tried to remove stains and scratches with Picasa but it does not always work. Inpaint is 99% perfect. It did not work out only on a few photos (out of thousands). It's the best program of it's kind out there, I tried others and I always go back to Inpaint.

"Looked promising; did not work well overall. Cheap"

    March 17, 2012   |   By generousalways

    Version: Inpaint 4.3

    Pros

Trial version removed obvious lines on a clear sky or white background.

    Cons

Often removal left grainy, light colored blobs where the object had been. I had intended to use this as a quick way to remove telephone lines and other basic lines from clean backgrounds, rather than going to PS. Since it never worked, I'll spend the extra couple of minutes using the PS method.

    Summary

Could not get to work. Cost me $20; developer unable to fix problem. $20 down the drain but it could have been more and I am lucky enough to be able to fix problems much more professionally with PS.

    "Note: Review from DotTech[.org]."

    November 22, 2009   |   By freewareelite

    Version: Inpaint 2.3

    Pros

    Fairly easy to use.
    Processes images quickly.
Rectangle and polygon tool (similar to free hand) for selection.
Easy multiple processing of the same area.
    Has an undo/redo feature.
Supports (at least) .JPG, .PNG, .BMP, and .GIF.

    Cons

Supports .GIF input images, but does not list it with .JPG, .PNG, and .BMP so users have to select "All files" to select .GIFs.

    Summary

InPaint is a really nice program. The results are very dependent on the image being processed and how you handle the selection and processing, but InPaint is simple enough for novices and yet still handy for a quick touch up by a professional; it works quickly and does a fairly good job, all things considered. I give InPaint two thumbs up and recommend it to anyone. Take note, though, while InPaint is definitely a keeper, tools like Clone Stamp (which come with many image editors), while more anal, can produce better results.

    "Very useful and easy-to-use tool."

    January 21, 2009   |   By Tolyan-73

    Version: Inpaint 1.0

    Pros

It makes ones work with photos much easier, just in 2 clicks it removes any object from the selected area without any traces.

    Cons

Sometimes one has to repeat the object removal action, because from the first trial this tool can leave some traces behind.

    Summary

Anyhow it is very good and helpful tool and, actually, it costs its price.
