Version: Hex Edit 3.4
Pros: Cumbersome to use
Cons: Cumbersome to use

Version: Hex Edit 3.4
"Lovely to use with many advanced features"
Pros: I don't use it much but it does what I want painlessly. I used WinHex and others before and could not work out how to use them even after reading the help. With HexEdit it just works but on the few times I have needed to use the help it was there.
Cons: Not much wrong that I can think of. Some of the advanced features like templates I could not understand.
Summary: HexEdit is easy to use. It also has lots of neat features. Some of the "advanced" features are very easy to use (e.g. highlighter). There are lots of cool (and useful!) ideas that I have not seen in other hexeditors.

Version: Hex Edit 3.4
Pros: All basic functions are done competently (as good or better than the others). Handles anything I throw at it (huge MPEG files ...) Has really useful stuff that others don't (and I have tried them all) like help, templates, properties, ...
Cons: Needs find and replace in files
Summary: I use HexEdit in my work daily. I regularly try other hex editors and (depite the hype and propaganda you may see here and elsewhere) there is nothing to compare with it. They regularly come up with features that are innovative and useful.

Version: Hex Edit 3.4
"Slow and lower function than expected"
Pros: No plusses compared to HxD Hex Editor
Cons: Had hoped that the advertised macro/control features would make this a better bet for me than HxD Hex Editor but these features were too limited. Meanwhile, simple searches of a USB-attached HDD were only half the speed of HxD..
