Publisher's description

From Imate Software :

HTTP Weazel is a site ripper that grabs entire Websites and downloads them in a flash so that you can view them offline at your leisure. The Weazel's smart design makes it simple enough for beginners to use while still delivering the powerful flexibility desired by downloading veterans. The key to Weazel's combination of ease and control are its templates. Sample templates let you quickly choose between downloading an entire site, grabbing the first page of a site, grabbing a single file, or selective downloading. Once you feed Weazel a site address, it rapidly downloads the structure of the site so that you can make selections if you wish. Then a simple double-click starts the download process, which proceeds briskly due to the use of multiple connections. You can modify the existing templates or create your own using a simple rule-based filtering system, and you can automate downloads using the built-in scheduler.

Changes: The GUI has be redesigned. Many internal changes (Password system). Many other fixes and improvements...

"Not as user-friendly as download.com made it sound."

    by yummy111 on September 16, 2005

Pros: Well I can't necessarily say any since I haven't got the project to work for and with me properly. ;P

Cons: I can't even view the default templates since they are in this .prj format. Why didn't they just do screen captures of what they look like? they could've also put it on their webpage.

From what I can tell, they download the page in .prj format too. What use is that to me when I have no program that does that for me?

What I wanted was a program to save me the extra grief of selecting an image, then having the Save as... dialog box and then clicking OK when I wanted to save pictures from an image gallery. I don't see that here presently (though I obviously wish I did). >_>

It's given 3 stars just in case somehow I'm missing something. >_>

I wish there was some actual "help" to look at too, since I don't have a clear idea what the program is doing.

I think this program might not know how to work-around downloading from sites that require a login and when the computer has a firewall too.

"Best out there but not flawless"

    by solver66 on December 13, 2005

Pros: I tested this program against the competitor, Rafabot, on a simple website with frames and a few external links. Not all content was downloaded with both programs, however, httpweazel had a higher hitrate than Rafabot. So you should use this one - it is with 20$ also cheaper than Rafabot.

Cons: It does not download all links. It is quite a mystery why there is no program which downloads all links available within a certain domain. It should not be too difficult, though, to program it.

"mediocre and unfriendly but it works"

by npeirce on November 6, 2005

Pros: it works and it has lots of features like setting link depth and similar options as well as filters

Cons: i was looking for something that i could configure wo handle rolling number such as /blah03/blah27.jpg that aren't on an index page. this can't do it, even with the templates and filters.

it doesn't handle local link list files -- program just closes quietly when you tell it to download.

interface is cramped and double-clicking in the structure tab does nothing. you have to right click and ask it to display in default browser to see the file.

hey, but it downloads a website. what else do you want for 20 bucks? If you want to pay twice as much for a webspider without these problems, check out BlackWidow, which has its own problems. If you want a file renamer for after the download, check out "A.F. 5 Rename your files" -- stupid name, narrow scope, but flexible renaming.

    on May 22, 2002

Summary: Just wondering... why someone would pay 20 bucks for this when I can have HTTrack for free??
Give a try on HTTrack... It's a MUCH better leeching tool.

"Doesn't download everything, faulty filters, unstable in W2k"

    on April 10, 2002

Summary: this program seems great at first but quicky because a pain. Its filters seem to skip over everything I wanted and grabbing what I didn't wanted, even when designating my own filters it didn't work as it should. I freezes all the time in my w2k sp... read more >>
