sounds like a great product and would be wonderful for someone else.
i need a program that is stand alone and i can use when not online as well.
i was considering downloading this program but thanks to finding out that it is not a standalone program, i'm not going to, it would've wasted alot of my time,...i need something i can use even when i'm not online....
thanks again for the info!!!!!!
Flexible and customizable A great deal for free!!
after updating or adding items it resets to the top of the page instead of taking you to the item you just updated or added. Not a big deal just a frustrating issue. The "get more recipes link does not work
Easy to use--once you understand how it's put together. You can create your own categories and add/delete items. Not limited to groceries--of course--so I use it for other shopping as well. Once you've established--over time--your usual purchases, it's quick and simple to indicate what you need to purchase on your next shop. (I don't use the recipe feature.
It's nice to have a grocery list and recipe/ingredients
Why would you want this inside your browser...... It doesn't make any sense, this would would probably be better made for a stand alone program, not inside a browser, especially since the program really has nothing to do with the internet.

To your point of this Firefox Add-On needing to be a standalone program, it does present itself that way if you think about it. When you open GLG, the window is it's own window, doing it's own thing. If you close your main browser window, the GLG window stays open and you can continue using it. I don't feel that opening a web browser to run this application is a hindrance, either. In my experience, most people already have a browser open in the background unless they're actively playing a CPU-intensive game.
As for the program having nothing to do with the internet, I have to respectively disagree using my own experiences with GLG as example. I find the vast majority of new recipes online. With the GLG a click away, I can quickly copy and paste the new recipe ingredients and instructions into the GLG app; and most times I can get a picture of the dish to include as well. I can't do that with a neighbor's 3x5 index card.
Confusing to use, has categories I'd never use. A waste of time and space
Does exactly what it says it'll do.
Comes pre-loaded with basic list and some dishes, you can add as many others as you want.
Could be more intuitive; but I figured out how to use all features of the program in less than 15 minutes, so it's not a big deal.
I truly have no idea what the pros may be. I somehow missed that this minute program needs Firefox to function. No Firefox, no List Generator.
The only problem I had was the lack of Firefox, on my end. I would have rather downloaded a larger program that could function without Firefox as a necessity.

It should be understood from the beginning that the Grocery List feature is specifically part of Firefox. Internet Explorer does not have this feature. The Grocery List is just one of the many features that are available that Internet Explorer. This is why Firefox has gained so many supporters. Internet Explorer has too many security and virus issues.

It's a FIREFOX EXTENSION-what did you expect?
Reply by FlappingCrane on August 15, 2006
You are correct, it is a Firefox Extension, therefore it needs Firefox to run. C-Net editors, please remove this review as it's uninformed user's rating of 1 is unfairly lowering the User Rating of this download.

I don't think the above reviewer's vote should count. Totally clueless.."Needs Firefox" they proclaim, um it's listed under Firefox extensions.
