  Pros

  -Free -GetGo is like a torrent software, so even if you lose internet access while it's downloading a massive file you can easily have it continue downloading once your internet is restored. -Does appear to improve download speed. I have terribly slow internet that could just randomly disconnect but with this I still managed to download hundreds of Megabytes.

  Cons

  -May be a bit complicated for someone not used to the internet and not willing to try and figure GetGo's functions out. -Download's seem to freeze at 99% on me. It doesn't finish downloading the rest for 1-5 minutes. -Support doesn't get back to you. -They need to get obvious issues fixed. -Asks to install other things not related to it's funtcions(toolbar) -Says that it can download YouTube videos and even has a certain function for it but it fails to do so, when you put in a YT url it changes it to some unknown file. In fact, do not try to download YT based urls at all with this, if you find the url of a video from any other site it will most likely download correctly. -Doesn't appear to have any browser integration, so you still have to insert the 'real' link to what your downloading in GetGo in order for it to download through it.

  Summary

  Worth a try..I haven't found any negativity from it other than listed above, no viruses, no spam/ads in the program. I have read past reviews that say it screws around in IE but I never noticed it because I, like anyone with a brain -do not use IE-, it's old, unprotected junk. C'mon people, get with the new age browsers. In my opinion the program still needs to get the kicks out of it that's why a purchasable version of it offered on GetGo's site should not even be available.

  Pros

  It installed without much fuss.

  Cons

  It completely disabled my MSIE (current version). It allowed Firefox to come up, but I could not get the program to actually DO anything.

  Summary

  I don't know if it is because of my system's special configuration or whether it was not the program's newest version (and not ready for MSIE), but until I am able to actually "test drive" it, I can't really say it is of any use or not.

  None. Okay, if I have to say something - it was easy to download.

  Cons

  Doesn't work at all! Wants to install other things, and change my settings for search engines.

  Summary

  I feel like I must be doing something wrong, but I've read the help pages, the Status keeps telling me the video is downloaded, ONLY IT ISN'T!!! It constantly changes the download directory, and even the file name anytime I do anything. I hope it uninstalls easily.

  Summary

  The very first download I tried with this caused the program to crash shortly after the download started. Repeating it caused it to crash again. I uninstalled it shortly after. I used GetRight for years and never had that happen.

• GetGo helped me with my downloads

  Pros

  -Interface is easy to understand -If you elect default setup it automatically starts when you select Download. You are given an option to use GetGo or to use the browser's downloader. (Setup options allow changes to this.) -It noticably improved my download speed. -It did what it said it would do.

  Cons

  -The installation does try to install Ask Toolbar but you can deselect it and decline it. Due dillagence prevents it from loading. -It does add a GetGo toolbar to the browser (I use IE8) that I didn't find useful so I deselected it from my browser options under view. The little icon in the command bar remains and it is still active in the background. That's enough for me.

  Summary

  I have a fairly slow DSL connection and servers often shut me down during extended downloads. I chose GetGo because it offered a feature to resume the download after an interuption. However, to my surprise, it made the download go faster and I didn't loose the server. I am looking forward to using it more. I haven't seen any evidence of a trojan and it didn't hijack my homepage. However, I did read the screens during installation and you do need to decline the Ask.com toolbar & homepage. I went so far as to deselect the Ask.com check boxes and then declined the offer as well. GetGo did add a toolbar to my IE8 that may help someone who uses the offered features. (I don't so I hid it.) However, the View options of IE8 allow you to deselect that as well while leaving the rest of GetGo active. If you use it in conjuction with Sandboxie, you will need to verify that the file is saved where you want it. So far, I like it a lot.

  None that are worth it installing something when I expressly told it not to.

  Cons

  When you install the program it will seem to stall but it is not really stalled. What it is doing is waiting for you to click next again so you will skip over the ask.com toolbar permission screen (This happened several times). Even though I clicked the back button and told it NOT to install the ask.com toolbar it installed it anyway along with the updater for the toolbar. DO NOT INSTALL THIS PIECE OF CRAP. Used to be CNET would not allow this sort of stuff.
