Pros
- Efficient in size (Only 17MB in Download) and CPU usage - Handles multiple Megapixel cameras with ease - Multiple simultaneous remote consoles - Motion Detection that works perfectly and it very configurable - Free for non-profit usage with ALL features included - Great storage sub-system and easy finding the footage you need - Excellent video export function - Multi-Monitor support - Lots and lots of functions if you need them
Cons
- A little bit of a learning curve but get past it and you'll appreciate everything it can do - No pricing on website but non-profit use is free! - Not so flashy interface, looks a bit dated. But that probably is also why the software is so efficient, no unnecessary bloat

Sometimes you find a gem.... About a year ago I looked at about 8 different NVR's, and while they all had their unique features and plus points, none of them had all of the features I was looking for combined or working reliably. Then I tested Genius Vision and never looked back. Although there might be a small learning curve, once you get past that, you will find yourself with an awesome piece of software which does everything you want and does it efficiently and reliably. See all the Pros to see why. For everyone looking at NVR's, either for at home, an event or a big corporation, this software will fit your needs. Invest some time to learn how to work it and you will not be disappointed.

Looks like it does allot. unfortunately, without being able to view the recordings, or, having to go to the console and acknowledge each and every motion... make this unusable. This is so difficult, that it's unusable. The tutorials are completely unhelpful. The demonstrator moves too fast, and does not explain what there doing. They obviously know what there doing, and expect you do too. - How do I stop the 'Tamper' alert? - How do I access the motion recordings? - ptz controls? How?

Genius Vision is an excellent product in my option. The system is easy to setup and configuration of cameras and storage is very good. The console look is excellent clear to understand with many options. Once you have the router ports configured for the NVR the remote console access is a great feature both viewing individual cameras and impressive is the live console view of your entire system. The 3G streaming to my iPhone and iPad works fairly well. My Android phone seems to work when attached to my local network, have not gotten to work outside the network. I'm sure support can help with these issues. By the way support is top notch very quick to respond to technical questions.
Cons
As with any system the documentation could be better. The videos do help to a degree. A more English version of documentation would help, rather than mixture of English and Chinese.

Pros
Very easy to setup and configure, but with all the features of a you'd expect in an NVR. Support is very quick to respond to technical questions online.
Cons
The online ("F1") help can be difficult to follow, as it's a mixture of Chinese and English... but it will get you up and running.
Summary
I'm using the RTSP driver to record video streams from our IP HD cameras, and it's working really well. I can't speak to others that may have had performance issues. We've installed the NVR on a dedicated computer, with massive storage (8TB) for the video files. (We wanted to have about 10 months of history for our 9 IP cameras.) The files that the NVR creates can be viewed directly, and easily identifies the camera and time that the video was taken. If you've got a good computer system that you'd like to run this NVR on, I'd at least recommend checking it out.
My System slowed to a crawl!

That I was able to uninstall it!
Cons
It messed with my firewall, my anti-virus program, my resolution on my screen and slowed my system to crawl to the point of not being able to run but one program at a time. I had to go into System Config/BIOS even after I uninstalled the program.
Summary
I did not get to use it due to the problems that it caused my computer, which put me in PANIC Mode! I was able to fix my system after 2 days of troubleshooting my Hard Drive.
Changes your firewall, phones home, won't uninstall.

This software phones home collecting unknown information. It wants to change firewall settings, and won't uninstall.
Summary
This goes through a bizarre process of asking you to log on to their server with "admin" / "1234". It fails to uninstall all components, saying you "can remove remaining components manually." WHAT components? HOW? This may be useful software if you can get it to log in and do whatever it is trying to do, but I don't trust it, and it's certainly a poorly written install / uninstall.

Looks promising, having linked the mobile option yet but once that is set it would be an affordable alternative for home security.
