GarageSale for Mac provides a familiar Mac-like interface for editing and managing eBay auctions. It complements eBay's own tools for hosting online auctions and can really help you sell more.
Creates appealing listings: With GarageSale for Mac, you can develop attractive eBay listings through a clean interface that offers you 130 free templates, plus the ability to create custom templates. This WYSIWYG app ensures that everything you write and edit is the same as what appears on your eBay page.
One click to relist: All templates you create are saved so that you can quickly relist them. This is a great feature if you are selling multiple similar items on eBay.
Support for multiple accounts: If you have several eBay accounts, you can make separate listings for them. You just have to make sure that you have your preferred shipping, billing, and pricing information sections modified.
Scheduled auctions: Through the application's Events function, you can start an auction at a date and time of your choosing with just a few clicks on the well-laid-out Inspector panel options.
Not for eBay newbies: If you are not familiar with how eBay works, you will likely find GarageSale difficult to use. Its many advanced features have not been simplified for beginners, although creating listings is relatively easy.
Memory intensive: This application can freeze your computer if you run a number of programs simultaneously.
A great eBay front-end application, GarageSale offers an array of useful features that work and can boost your eBay sales. However, its cost might not be justified if you are not a frequent eBay seller or trader. This app targets medium- and large-scale eBay sellers.
Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of GarageSale for Mac 6.7.5.

GarageSale is a certified client application for the eBay online auction system. It allows Mac OS X users to create auctions quickly using an intuitive mac-like interface, integrates with iPhoto and offers WYSIWYG text editing.
Easy to use program with lots of template options. Makes it easy to list items and could save a lot of time. Downloading photos is so much easier and faster.
Lots of problems. Works more like a Beta program. Lots of frustrating crashes particularly when using it with El Capitan. Formatting of text very annoying some times. Changes font size without a reason when amending a template. Haven't seen any improvement for a number of months.
Great program which is easy to use when it works. Unfortunately it doesn't a lot of times and you can end up with 15 plus program crashes while listing 10 items. Very frustrating when you have forgotten so save your new listing regularly so you have to start from scratch. Used to be better but not perfect before I downloaded El Capitan.
eBay recently made it a requirement that all photos have to be at least 500 pixels. Sounds easy, right? But eBay also made it a requirement that users must upload at least one of those 500 pixel photos using the eBay photo service. Sounds easy, right? WRONG. Because if you upload your photos using the eBay picture services as required, Garage Sale automatically reduces the size of all the photos you import into thumbnail size photos. That means that you can no longer use Garage Sale to upload auctions to eBay. I paid something like $75 for this program and it no longer works. When I contacted the creators of the program, I was told the fix was on their "to do" list. Hello!? The program doesn't work!
Garage Sale used to be a decent program. It was always a bit clunky but the templates you could produce were quite nice and had a decent range of options. The program is clunky to edit. After building a number of templates, you naturally want to delete some of them because the program is so big and takes so much memory but you have to delete them one at a time. It is a very slow and tedious process. Having said that, I was willing to put up with that, well, after all, there is no other decent ebay auction listing software. But now, the program is unusable and the creators, "iwascoding" apparently don't see any need to try to fix the problem that makes it impossible to use. All I can do is shake my head. Iwascoding has been aware of the problem for a month and have the fix on their "to do" list. Since the fix is the only thing that will make the program viable, I would think Iwascoding would be working through the night to fix the problem that has made their program completely unusable for eBay sellers.
Honestly, I wish someone would create a really good ebay auction listing software because at this point in time, none exists.
If you are thinking of purchasing this program to use on your Mac to list auctions on eBay, don't waste your money until you know it is usable. If Iwascoding does ever decide to get around to making their program usable again, I will come back and amend this review.
Gives a quicker option for listing bulk items, rather than using ebay's system. Good for a small amount of items, with few options.
Memory usage is off the charts. Constant freezing. Automatic restart feature doesn't work...ever. Limited template options. ebay fees are inaccurate. Tech support is incomprehensible.
I purchased this program with the intention of having it aid me with my ebay store. I have over 1000 listings to manage on a daily basis and a lot of money to keep track of. Garage Sale has lost me buckets of money due to it's inefficiency, freezing and poor tech support. I've had issues ranging from categories not loading to items disappearing from my list. The interface is extremely disorganized for a program that is supposed to improve on such a function. There are no real resources to figure everything out. Their website is, again, disorganized and confusing. Garage Sale attempts to emulate every feature of ebay's listing software, yet takes no initiative to make it coherent. I've contacted tech support on many an occasion for help with the many issues I've had and every single time, I've had to find and fix the problem myself. I would not recommend this program at all, and given the choice, I'd take my money back and go with Parallels and a Windows option.
I do many things with many different softwares and have been a mac user for 20 years. I am fully aware of what an app like this, had it been properly designed, could and should be capable of. However, there's nobody else creating this type of software for the mac, so they have all the room they need to corner the ebay market of apple users. Sad but true.
Ease of use, convenience of preparing and uploading auctions to eBay, great report generation, gorgeous templates (and lots of them!), excellent tech support, Yahoo group to share info, ideas, etc., very inexpensive!
There is nothing I have found that I do not like about this program.
I have been using GarageSale for several years for creating and listing professional-looking eBay auctions. It has paid for itself over and over. I have tried all the listing programs and GarageSale is truly the best. It is the easiest and most intuitive of the listing programs and is the most comprehensive allowing you to do everything from GarageSale so you don't even have to go to the eBay website. The tech support is excellent which is a definite pro. There is also a great Yahoo group forum of friendly GarageSale users for exchanging ideas and generally helping each other. GarageSale has saved me a lot of time, energy, and sanity!
I love the templates. They're soooo much better than what ebay gives you.
I've recently moved from ebay to Ebid. Shame there's no version for them. Come on Iwascoding. You can do it.
If you do a lot of auctioning on ebay, then this is the best app that can help you spruce up your auction listings. Forget what ebay itself offers, this is brill. Makes your auctions stand out from the rest.
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com. Can't recall if this was true of earlier versions, but since I started using v5 I have noticed a profoundly annoying and recurrent bug; any template, at any time, may not just lose ALL its text formatting but the ability to reapply any style changes, requiring that one resume work from a duplicate template (if you thought to save one) or start over from scratch (if you didn't). This seems to happen most frequently when adding an image or changing text in the editor, but just about anything can set it off apparently.
This, coupled with the always-on autosave (seriously, who thought this was a good idea?) and uninformative handling of eBay error messages makes this otherwise handy tool something of a headache to use.
