CNET Editors' review
Game Booster is an easy-to-use program that shuts down unnecessary system processes in order to improve the performance of resource-thirsty games. With an intuitive interface that makes it easy to switch between gaming mode and normal mode, Game Booster is a simple but powerful program.
Game Booster's interface is basic, with a list of 24 noncritical processes that can be shut down during gaming. Check boxes allow users to select specific processes. It is true that you have to take a leap of faith with some of these; if you're not extremely computer savvy, you may have no idea what it is that you're shutting down. We can say that our system suffered no ill effects from temporarily disabling all of the listed processes, and the program quickly started them again when we switched back to normal mode. We do wish that the program came with a Help file that went into detail about this issue, though. In addition to disabling unnecessary system processes, Game Booster offers a game defragmenter that specifically defragments the game directories, allowing a given game to start and run more quickly. Overall, we found Game Booster to be both easy to use and effective. We noticed a significant difference in game performance when using gaming mode, and we think this is a great choice for users who need to optimize their systems for gameplay.
Game Booster is free. It installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to all users.

From IObit:
Designed to help optimize your PC for smoother, more responsive game play in the latest PC games with the touch of a button, Game Booster helps achieve the performance edge previously only available to highly technical enthusiasts. It works by temporarily shutting down background processes, cleaning RAM, and intensifying processor performance. That means you can keep all the features of Microsoft Windows Vista and XP ready for when you need them, but turn them off when you are ready to get down to serious business - gaming. Game Booster makes it simpler to enjoy the latest games and take your experience to a new level.

"Amazing speedup program for gaming!"
Version: Game Booster 3.2
Pros
Helps clear your system of all unnecessary programs for gaming, and then you can shut down to normal function with the blink of an eye, and that's with the free version.
Cons
I have had a few crashes, but I have no proof it was not the games themselves. And with the performance increase I have seen, I doubt it. The free version only allows you to keep one game in your "gamebox" but its as easy as drag and drop.

"Doesn't do what it says."
Version: Game Booster 3.2
Pros
Can't find any.
Cons
It takes up too much RAM that it actually slows down my computer/game.
It turns off my necessary programs. -
"Excellent software"
Version: Game Booster 3.2
Pros
Free, easy to use, allows you to add certain games or applications that you want to boost.
Cons
None that I can find
Summary
I have been using this for over a year, I DJ and the software I use when making mixes or broadcasting can really drain the system resources so I start this and run it and it kills all unneeded programs and processes.
This is by far the best software I have found around that is for boosting your system. -
"It does what it claims to do."
Version: Game Booster 3.2
Pros
One enjoys better performance while playing games.
In this version (3) the installed games appear in the program window and once you select a game to play, pc is automatically put in game mode and the game is started. Once you exit the game, computer is restored to normal mode also automatically.
You can even use game mode to boost performance in order to use resource-hungry programs.Cons
The only thing that goes wrong for me is that when the computer is restored to normal mode, the language bar is not being correctly displayed but switching between keyboard layout works fine. Not much of a problem.
Summary
I think it is a nice program to use. It really boosts the computer's performance and makes even previously unplayable games playable.

"This works well"
Version: Game Booster 3.2
Pros
when my game crashes now, it drops back to the gamebooster desktop, then it automatically returns to the game before the internet signal gets dropped. It only causes a minor delay and I an still in the game. In the past I would be in windows and the game over early for me.
Cons
None I know of from using it for a year
