Version: GIS Explorer 1
"I would like to give this four stars ..."
Cons: because it is ****. Why do people develop software like this when it doesn't open the most basic .SHP file.

Version: GIS Explorer 1
Pros: Very pretty UI, automatic check for updates through the help menu, installed without problem, FREE.
Cons: I was able to open .shp files and view the encoded data, however, I could not get the map to show. There is absolutely no help offered within the program, and there is nothing on the website. The program "looks good" though, and if these two things were addressed, this may likely be a good GIS given that it's free.
