"G Data Antivirus is the BEST antivirus ever!"

February 09, 2011  |  By N3RDYGRL3

 |  Version: G DATA AntiVirus 2010

Pros

The ease of use is exceptional. My system does not slow down. The blocking of junk trying to get on my computer is perfect. The firewall works amazing, easy to personalize permissions with my other software. I LOVE this software I FEEL SO PROTECTED!

Cons

There is not one thing about GData that is negative.

Summary

G Data Software is the best choice for complete protection. This is the software I suggest everyone should get right now this very minute. I will never have a computer witghout GData installed on it. Performance and ease of use is top notch. You won't need any other software with G Data on your computer.

Updated on Feb 9, 2011

Through my own experience with G Data installed on many systems including all of my own, I know the system resources drian is fixable with adjusting the scan and protection settings. The defaults are set to high sensitivity. With some small tweaks to some option settings you will notice great speed increase immediately. Unless you are working in very high risk things you should not have to have the settings so high. Example, your Microsoft documents do not need to be scanned each time you open it, while you write it and while you save it. Those settings can be adjusted along with many others.
o do not know better they might think they were fully protected when they really are not. So G Data is doing good to default the settings to high protection. Better safe than sorry right! :-)
It is much better to have the software default to high levels of protection than for it to install and have the lowest level of settings enabled. For people wh

G Data is the best protection software on the planet. The system slowdown during a scan depends how deep you set it to scan. I always schedule my super deep scanning for a time I am not using my computer. Instant fix. I'd rather do that than lower my scan sensitivity. More is better in my opinion. :-) I love this software, I won't ever use another. GData is the only software that has effectively kept my system clean.

"An Antivirus Program that definitely works!"

January 23, 2011  |  By bfbo

 |  Version: G DATA AntiVirus 2010

Pros

*An easy to use interface.
*2 Anti-Virus engines for outstanding results!
*A downloadable bootscan tool, and other useful tools at the website.
*Free, fully functional 30 day trial download; a new 2011 version at the website!
*Good price!

Cons

*U.S.A. product support, seems non-existent, although I did get help using the European email contacts, in good time.
*Does use alot of System resources and time, which may affect older, or slower systems considerably.

Summary

An Antivirus Program that ACTUALLY CAUGHT A VIRUS, ER - VIRUSES, and it was ONLY A TRIAL VERSION!

I"ve been a McAfee customer for 5+ years, and never had any "viruses found" reports, except a few spywares here and there. I used my computer alot too - shopping and selling, banking among other things.

After installing a trial version of GData Antivirus 2010, and running the normal full scan, 2 viruses were found!
2 more viruses were found when I used the bootscan tool!

It does take some time to complete, and does use considerable system resources, which may be more significant in older and/or slower systems, but my faster, more advanced system handled it well. Also the U.S.A Support seems to be still in the works, but I was able to get in contact using the European emails in good time.

Bottomline - It is an excellent Antivirus Program that definitely works, and when it comes to Security for online shopping and banking like I do, its' worth more than the price tag attached, or the time it takes to scan. I simply schedule the scan when I'm not using my PC. Its' also easy to use!

I recently purchased and installed a digital download of the new GData Antivirus 2011 program. Try yours free today.

Many thank to the GData Team!

As this is my second year as a G-DATA customer, I have not been disappointed, and my PC has never felt cleaner. I just had to upgrade to Total Security 2012. With some new and improved features such as the Bootscanner CD tool, PC Tuner, and Shredder, it just keeps getting better.
And at a reasonable price of $39.95 (Total Security), this "dual-engine, virus shredding machine" is hard to pass up!
Get your today!

"Horrible Drain on Systems Resources - Very Slow"

November 26, 2010  |  By bwkeyboardman

 |  Version: G DATA AntiVirus 2010

Pros

None, that I can find. So slow I can't handle it! Kind of like Norton used to be!

Cons

This software is slowing down my computer to 1/4th of the speed it used to be with Webroot. I had heard so much about how good this software is I thought I would try it. Man, am I sorry. Even simple things like viewing a folder is extremely slow!

Summary

Don't bother with it! I've got a 6-mo old laptop with Win7/64-bit and 4GB of RAM. Webroot worked great. Now, it's so slow, its not worth it!

"Tremendous drain on system resources"

October 17, 2010  |  By pel11

 |  Version: G DATA AntiVirus 2010

Pros

G-data may catch more scripts, trojans, worms, but the slight increase over other internet suite protection programs such as avira, norton, and mcafee is not worth it.

Cons

When G data is scanning or updating, it draws too many resources which results in delays when opening most work-related programs.

G-data is also annoying since they do not hide programs in the "hidden icons" section of the task bar.

Summary

G data thinks that users want popup windows to play with their software, however, everything needs to be hidden in the background. I have used many antivirus programs, and everytime I install and evaluate, many of the programs have heavy footprints demanding too many resources. I have learned that I always go back and reinstall Norton 360, since it is so fast, works in the background, and draws very few resources.

By the way. Symantec Corp, just acquired PGP (pretty good privacy) which creates the best encryption technology on the planet. This will enable Symantec to offer the best full disk encryption in future bundles.

"Gentlemen...G-Data is now 2011...Get Up To Date CNET !"

June 28, 2010  |  By zron

 |  Version: G DATA AntiVirus 2010

Pros

Currently using G-Data I.S. 2011-Security Suite. As stated in a previous review it utilizes both Bitdefender and Avast Anti-Malware engines and constantly finishes in the top three of detection...see A/V Comparitives....all will be revealed.

Cons

Only area for improvement would be with its Pre and Post Sales and Service. Their has been rumour that English speaking representatives will be assisting from the G-Data U.S.A. site...but having an actual presence in the U.S.A. would be the best .

Summary

The product is superb...automatic updates...excellent Anti Virus and Malware protection and the newest version provides a Behaviour Based component similar to Prevx and Threat-Fire. The GUI is easy to understand and visually appealing. You can set up your own Scanning Schedule and Tweek various customizations within the Suite. And the Pricing is ultra competitive...check out G-Data's U.S.A. website. And if interested take the newest version for a thirty day test drive. And German engineering is a large plus factor. Sincerely...ZRon

Don't always trust what CNET users say. Most of them like giving companies a bad name. You try it out and write a review.

"the best ive tried"

June 06, 2010  |  By redistou

 |  Version: G DATA AntiVirus 2010

Pros

Thorough search tools.

Cons

None spring to mind. Ive never used their support so cant comment on that. Not the cleanest interface around especially on the update options. For me these are minor points.

Summary

I got infected with a back door trojan and nothing seemed to shift it - both microsoft essentials and malwarebytes spotted the affects and cleaned them up - but was not finding the "case zero" trojan which kept re-opening my machine to let the others in - I searched myself and found additional exe trojans which I reported to malware as they werent on their database ( which an admin on the forum deleted? maybe I did something wrong ). Anyway after G-DATA had been running 30 seconds it spotted the ones the others had missed but I had spotted, plus 2 more live viruses, plus several more buried in unopened idx files for a dead email account and in some cab files. Incredibly thorough. No anti virus is 100% but this is pretty good.

Updated on Jun 6, 2010

The bottom line is it cleaned up my machine and the attacks have all stopped.
