An amazing contrast of epic scope and simple control, Freelancer does an excellent job of mixing elements of simulation, role-playing, arcade action, and nonlinear cinema. Outstanding 3D graphics and a theatrical soundtrack are just the appetizers. Most innovative is the game's mouse-only controls for space flight, which are far easier to learn than those found in most simulators. The point-and-click story elements of the game can get a bit repetitive, but the action-packed battles definitely liven things up. An excellent interface and ample hand-holding make it easy to bounce among the wildly different modes of gameplay. Although the demo only delivers one complete mission, the replay value is high. If you've ever been scared off by the complexity of simulation or strategy games, definitely give this one a try.Publisher's description
From Microsoft Games :At the start of the fourth millennium, the newly settled Sirius star system is controlled by the four major houses, which cooperate and compete based on their shifting political agendas. As freelancer Edison Trent, you can fight for law and order as a naval soldier, find your fortune trading commodities, steal and loot as a space pirate, or maybe even do a bit of all three.
Gameplay features 3D character interaction, an immersive storyline, and an intuitive mouse-look control system for extensive 3D space combat. Your reputation in the galaxy will change based on your actions, so beware: Today's friends may well wind up as tomorrow's enemies.

Version: Freelancer demo
Pros: A space-based singleplayer/multiplayer RPG with strategic gameplay and an awesome first-person shooter interface! I've waited two years for something like this! Best futuristic spaceflight emulator ever! Two years and I've finally saw something that is just like the game I have always dreamed about playing. Can't wait to play the retail version. XD X] Oh yes, the storyline just totally blew me away. XD
Cons: -Do something with the scripting?
and
-More strategic hardpoint placement like in the game StarFury: Empires at War. Fighting strategically in 3D space is what I'm talking about. =D

Version: Freelancer demo
Pros: 1. Very short learning curve.
2. Easier than the flight simulation- no intricacy of landing and other things but very immersing as you strategise in trading as well as fighting.
3.Nice story.
4.Played the demo and instantaneously made my mind to buy the retail.
Cons: flight detail not there i.e. landing, taking off;as in flight sims. But it's not a problem.

Version: Freelancer demo
"This demo is big!! Great choice for anyone!!!"
Pros: Freelancer demo is one of the best I've downloaded yet. It is very large with great graphics and kept me busy for quite a long time. I am going to buy the full version because I liked the demo so much.

Version: Freelancer demo
"This is a MUST GET demo and i'll be buying the full version too"
Pros: This is a great demo because even though you only get about 4 levels, the game will allow you to keep playing in this gigantic galaxy and do as many side quest as you want and get as much money as you want.
Cons: although you can do as many missions as possible, you'll be stuck if you ever try to get pass pilot rank 1, though this is still great for a demo

Version: Freelancer demo
Pros: This has the largest universe i have ever played in. The demo only has the first system but there are many more that can be explored when you get the full version. Beyond that there is a whole modding community that creates additions to the game to make it better. The controls are the easiest to use that i have ever tried. Barely any setup needed. The multiplayer aspects of this game are phenominal. The whole universe is used, you can go anywhere, kill other players, trade with people, and form squads with people. If you like the demo, maybe even just think it is good, you love the game. Even when the long and very good story line is done you can continue to play and do what you want. Explore places that you have not been. You can also find some uncharted systems =D
Cons: Sometimes the voices are a little fragmented.
No capital ships. Yes there are mods to get capital ships but i think that games like this should support large ship capibilities.
