Poor chat filter (censors "stupid" while allowing actual vulgarities)
The only active members run off actual North American users (this game is promoted as the North American version)
Server does NOT support international users
Too many bugs that require being patched and tested properly
Special items you have to purchase with real currency gives too much of an advantage over regular users
Special characters have too much of a bonus (both items and characters will make them think you're cheating, and yes I have purchased them)
The sounds and music will give you a headache (they can be turned off)
The Anti-Hack client doesn't work (so far it claimed myself and a few others were using a "Hack Tool" when we just installed the game)
Forums were removed because of international users harassing members

Summary

First of all this is the NORTH AMERICAN version. If you happen to live outside of said continent, you need to review the version in which you are located in. It's obvious from the reviews here that some people are just hitting buttons and giving this game a high rating or not even explaining anything.

The server is unsupervised, nothing but vulgarities and racial slurs are the domestic language in FreeStyle. Don't bother contacting customer support because they don't care. Most of the players don't even speak English.

Lag will be the first thing you notice when you play. While there are a few members located on the continent that this game is trying to market, they're a rare breed on this server.

When everyone in your game is located in North America the game is playable. You will see the glitches that still need to be fixed or patched, but it is possible to have fun and simply adjust to the bugs.

When you even have JUST ONE person who is outside of North America you will have no idea what's going on. The game is broken, you will see glitches that shouldn't happen, nothing will make sense and you will fully understand why the servers are always so empty compared to the maximum occupancy.

I currently have 5 characters over level 16, and 2 of them are those special characters that give you a VERY unfair advantage over any free characters. You're better off kicking those players out of the game.

Want to know how to beat all those international players who warp and lag all over the place? Find yourself a few downloads before starting up the game. When you lag you're much faster than the other players in the game.

That's not all, when you're lagging you can also make the defenders stumble much easier, you can knock them over on defense just by tapping the W key when you're nowhere near them. They move in slow motion when they shoot and sometimes they stand still so you can steal the ball from them. Lag is the trick to being "PRO", give it a try.

If they want to fix lag being a problem, cap off the ping limit to disconnect those players. It's not complicated and we have had the basic technology to synchronize since dial up.

How would I rate this game?

The graphics are outdated, the Sega Dreamcast would steal this game's lunch money.

The sound is outdated, some of the songs I heard (before turning them off) shouted out years that as of now should have been removed over 3 years ago. The announcer is annoying, but the basic sounds are fine and you can turn off the other sounds. If you have to turn off sounds it means they're bad.

The controls are impossible to play when someone in the game has a poor connection. If everyone in the game has a good connection I would rate the controls 7/10, even with some of the bugs and gambling system to make players fall or stumble. Most of the time you don't know what's going on in the game, and the odds of you getting in a game with a player who doesn't live in a third world country is slim to none.

The replay factor lasts as long as you know who you're playing against in the game. If they live in North America I would likely play this game a few hours a week. It can be fun, but there's no guarantee and usually a waste of time.

This game needs to be moderated because it has potential to be something great, but so far that doesn't even seem possible. Make a server that has a ping limit and promote the game for NORTH AMERICAN users of all ages who have stable internet connections.

The version of FreeStyle in the Philippines was abandoned for a reason, stop catering to a grieving audience from a third world country already.
