This simple, free program monitors RAM and CPU usage in real time. You can choose to run FreeMeter at start-up so you can monitor your system at all times, or just run it when you want. Upon launch, two graphs tick by, measuring your CPU usage and your current disk usage. You also can see the amount of RAM in use, how much you have left, and the total amount. The page-file readout offers similar information. The RAM analysis is particularly useful for people who need to run several applications at once. We liked being able to see how specific actions affected system resources. We also liked the small, configurable meters the program can place in the system tray, which tell you at a glance how many resources you're using at that moment. FreeMeter works well for people who need to monitor their limited resources while using several programs at once.

    "Just about right"

by gconnery on August 23, 2008

Pros: You can configure it to do exactly what you want--decide what to monitor as a tray icon, and what to monitor when you double click to open the program. CPU, network, disk, paging, etc all trackable/graphable.

    Cons: Doesn't include CPU frequency.

Pro version required to see multiple CPU usage separately.

    "Barebone Perfection"

by thegodofpimp on June 10, 2007

    Pros: Im A Pro-Reviewer. Meaning I Don't Review Lightly.

System Resource: Very Very Very Low Usage

    Usability: To The Point

Comments: Doing what it states, it displays the cpu MHz MEGAHERTZ; NOT the Percentile (%) of cpu used.

Good For: Telling Your Cpu performance, if your cpu is underperforming, by looking at the MHz speed stated and comparing with your cpu advertised speed.

eg: My Laptop, is a 1.83gigahertz capable processor. Inquisitive, i set my cpu performance to the desired levels (using my Acer Emanager) ranging from low>medium>high>maximum. I monitor the cpu speed stated and realised my cpu runs at about max 900MHz at my usual medium cpu speed setting and on the maximum setting my cpu reached speeds of 1803.31 MHz of cpu performance. consistent with advertised.

    other desc:

    barebones program

VERY STABLE (no errors or crashes recorded thus far)

    My Personal Stamp:

this software is tested spyware and virus FREE

Cons: turnoffs: for fussy users, the interface is THE PLAINEST POSSIBLE. not many options other than a small (somewhat ugly to some) plain windows explorer typical window with CPU speed stated in MHz and nothing else.

could-be con: for some, they might want a MORE realtime monitor. this monitors cpu ONLY in 10seconds intervals, which is actually my preferred.

    cons: barebones.

    "Awesome"

by EconomistBR on May 3, 2007

Pros: It neatly displays my RAM and CPU usage on the System Tray bar. You can also customize it so that it can display HD usage and virtual memory utilization on the System Tray bar.

    Cons: None so far

"Awkward interface covers a slapped-together app"

by KingKode on February 23, 2008

Cons: This app doesn't actually hise itself; it simply makes itself small, and puts itself at the bottom left of the screen (hoping that the user doesn't auto-hide their taskbar). The main window interface is 1990-style, and is really hard to read at a glance. This program is terrible!
