If you've forgotten a simple password for a Word or Excel file, this free utility is a good way to recover it. Compared to full-fledged password crackers, Free Word Excel Password Wizard offers a very limited set of attacks. However, the free demos of fuller-featured programs typically let you recover passwords of only one or two characters--in other words, they're useless for any practical purpose. The developers of this program acknowledge it's only useful for short, simple passwords (for instance, English words) of up to eight characters, but it does a decent job cracking those. You can choose character sets and dictionary files, and in our tests the program discovered the password lover in a few seconds. Give it a shot before moving on to more powerful remedies.

Its free and has a typical interface of something free that does nothing.

It does nothing but fail and then direct you too 2 other sites for a product or a service. This is just total bs. In fact it probably actually does nothing. I am of the mind that it claims it cannot find the password because it has no capability to hash anything.
CNET really needs to hire someone to rip such items apart before they get posted.Summary
Don't bother downloading this. When you install it it will probably put adware on your system. It sets off AV and to finish you have to allow it to install something av doesn't like. It seems to be nothing more than a bs way to advertise. CNET has gone way down hill allowing this kinda of crap on their download sites with no testing but us guinea pigs. Whoever wrote the first review is probably the author of the software and may live in some trojan infested creation place like Bosnia or around there. CNET test this and remove it. IT serves no purpose.
Alright I tried it some more its actually trying to work after changing some options as to what it picks in the brute force attack. I still did not crack the password, but since it actually worked on it and and I was wrong about it did nothing so I will raise my stars to 3 at most.

It only goes up too 4 character pw, It might as well say that in the info. Whomever created it cannot spell special they spell it spechial IT gives you two language choices.
Hmm I stick too my review this is bs from russia to advertise. 2 stars or less.

I was slow at recognizing the password when provided by the program because I didn't know where to look. Could be a program flaw or....me!
