FaxBack's Free VoIP Plug-in for Microsoft Fax enables Windows Fax and Scan to transmit faxes using the SIP T.38 fax protocol instead of a fax modem. This easy-to-install plug-in installs on individual computers/workstations and can then be configured to connect with:Premise-based VoIP media gateway or IP-PBX supporting SIP T.38 ; Directly with a VoIP provider that supports SIP T.38; Directly with a VoIP provider that supports FaxBack's HTTPS Fax Platform To determine SIP T.38 compatibility, refer to your VoIP service provider or VoIP media gateway and IP-PBX vendor. Each workstation must have Windows Fax and Scan installed.

Its a complete virtual install, this means you do not see a modem, its binds to WIndows Fax in the background, i personally would prefer one that i see the modem. It doesnt work, it appears it uses port 5060, so if your voip server is on the same machine as the FAX server, then it doesnt seem to start at all, it shows this in the error, why its trying to use port 5060 is beyond me thought!. No documentation i can find at all, also you will notice is NO LONGER FREE, the website says its a trial only, i sent an email about this, they confirmed it used to be free, no longer is!!!

This made me think, do research,e.g., find out the IP address of our VOIP provider. Also, I had to think like a computer on how to send a document (as a picture!) through the fax.

Configuring this add-on was definitely a brain strainer! It functions well and I hope other poeple work with it as it does work! Going with a VOIP instead of a landline has presented problems, the major one being our fax machine no longer worked. Windows XP has a fax modem but no way to use it no land line)without this add-on.

Summary
This product was exactly what I was hoping for when it came to a fax solution. I got my small business set up with this, used the professional services package through the technical support department for set up was offered and have had absolutely no problems with this product! I recommend this product fully!

The perfect free solution that I have been looking for many years, I use axon as the voip server and it works flawless.
